Originally, the main attraction of the Brides of Destruction for many was Nikki Sixx getting back to good old-fashioned heavy metal. With Mötley Crüe on what appeared to be an indefinite hiatus, the Brides (or as they're known by fans, B.O.D.) seemed to be Sixx's new full-time gig. But with renewed interest in the Crüe thanks to their best-selling tell-all book, The Dirt, and the megabucks that a reunion tour would bring, Sixx returned to the Crüe after only a single B.O.D. album, 2004's Here Come the Brides. Instead of waiting for Sixx to return from his tour of duty with the Crüe, Tracii Guns and company decided to forge ahead without their former leader, issuing a follow-up in quick succession, 2005's Runaway Brides. The group has enlisted the aid of renowned producer Andy Johns (who has worked with such giants as Led Zeppelin and the Who...and Cinderella), who co-produces the disc with Guns. What you get is an album that follows the direction of the debut -- raw, in your face, guitar-riff rock, with lyrics that usually focus on the darker side of life, as evidenced by the Motörhead-esque "Dead Man's Ruin" and the Guns N' Roses-esque "White Trash." Although he's no longer in the band, Sixx offers some help in the songwriting department, as he co-penned several tracks prior to his departure ("Criminal," "This Time Around," and "Blown Away"). Also included is something that is sure to become a phenomenon in the world of hard rock/heavy metal -- a tribute to fallen guitar hero Dimebag Darrell, with the album-closing "Dimes in Heaven." ~ Greg Prato

| Runaway Brides Music Review Average Rating: (2.6 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Not too convinced I've heard the album three or four times in a row, and I still can't find any stand-out highlights. Poor sound, miserable vocal performances and all in all, I think veteran Guns should be able to do a tad better than this one... Submitted by havardlunde (Norway) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Not As Good As The First I also agree, I am a big Nikki Sixx and Tracii Guns fan, but I think without Sixx, and Guns alone, they had no clue where to go from the first cd. Although this is an okay cd, with a new sound, I still recommend the first one.

They recorded what they wanted! I have 3 points. #1 Brides have always said they wanted to be punk(15 yrs too late). #2 they lost Sixx's edge, his songwriting balanced out their first effort.( i still after all these years do not think T.Gunns is a companent songwriter) #3 their biggest weak spot on the first effort was London on vocals, he fails even worse on this one.All said and done they should have waited for Sixx instead of throwing this piece on the market! I am so disappointed with this cd. Since this review is a bit negative, let me start by saying I am a huge Motley Crue and L.A. Guns fan. I really enjoyed the first Brides cd, it was good, but not great. So I was very excited about getting this disc. From the very start this cd sounds horrible. It has a very muddy production. The songs, well they are boring, nothing sticks out, which is surprising because Ginger of the Wildhearts co-wrote a few songs. London, the singer, sounds horrible on this disc. I'm sad to say if you buy this, you'll probably be disappointed. You're better off listening to L.A. Guns or Motley. Or do yourself a favor and buy the Wildhearts - Must Be Destroyed. Runaway Brides songs
$18.85 This rerelease of Crispy Ambulance's 1982 debut PLATEAU PHASE contains 13 tracks of Factory Records post punk. This remastered CD contains the 12 inch versions of "The Presence," "Concord Square," and "Sexus."
The one studio album Crispy Ambulance put out over its career, The Plateau Phase boldly aimed to stand out as an experimental rock album and achieved its goal with style and power. With tips of the hat to everyone from early-'70s Pink Floyd and aggro Krautrock to the later song-smashings of Throbbing Gristle, The Plateau Phase isn't an out-and-out masterpiece, but comes awfully close. If anything, the comparisons at the time of release to Joy Division resulted from the label association -- as a singer, Alan Hempsall had a lighter tone than Ian Curtis, while Keith Darbyshire's bass is hardly trying to clone Peter Hook's inimitable surge. The Plateau Phase is certainly a dark, moody experience though, and Chris Nagle turned out to be as crucial for setting a sonic mood for the Crispies as Martin Hannett did for Joy Division. Given the similar influences, the ...
