| | Between The Buried And Me Alaska CD - Import Between The Buried And Me Discography of CDs
Initial pressings of this release include a bonus Victory Records sampler CD.
ALASKA is the third album by post-hardcore rockers Between the Buried and Me.
Though usually labeled as "hardcore," Between The Buried And Me has little to do with that music's original simplistic loud-fast-rules ethos. With a compositional complexity and rhythmic inventiveness that recall the work of Frank Zappa and the Mars Volta, ALASKA is not only unflinchingly heavy but dizzyingly varied. Though the album's death metal-esque grunts and 1980's shredder-style lead guitar will be familiar to metalcore fans, the frequent time changes, tempo shifts, jaw-dropping chops, and King Crimson references may find favor among fans of left-of-center metalheads System of a Down or followers of the NYC Downtown avant-garde scene.
Third album from the chaotic core band. Japanese version contains the bonus track "Colorblind".
Japanese edition adds an extra song.
CD contains 1 bonus track.
This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Enhancements include a live video footage. Between The Buried And Me Alaska Songs | 1. | All Bodies | |

Purchase Alaska CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Toby Keith American Ride CD (2009)
Alaska album
$13.35 With most contemporary country artists, you could guarantee that a song called "American Ride" would be a slice of jingoism, but Toby Keith isn't like most country singers. His "American Ride" casts a cynical eye at desperate housewives and wannabe pop stars, not celebrating down-home values but wondering where we're all headed on this American Ride at the end of the 2000s, a sentiment not all that far removed from some of Keith's previous social commentary, which makes it a mild surprise that it is the only song here that doesn't come from his own pen. As superb and striking as it is, it's not necessarily a good keystone for the rest of the record, which does have a few tougher numbers that pick up on the lean, mean vibe of 2008's THAT DON'T MAKE ME A BAD GUY ...

Alaska music CDs
$13.15 It's hard to not be impressed by the sheer sonic onslaught that is otherwise known as Nile. Except to the most hardened death metal fanatic, the genre has a way of sounding the same after a while, but Nile is one of the few exceptions -- able to put their own unmistakable fingerprints on this heavy duty style (Egyptian-influenced lyrics and musical bits, highly impressive instrumental dexterity, etc.). And on their sixth studio effort overall, 2009's Those Whom the Gods Detest, Nile has once again proven that they are a step ahead of the rest of the pack. Although some of the sonic depth has to be attributed to ...

Alaska songs
$9.55 Journey, the '80s arena rock icons and AOR kings, are presented at their peak in this live collection. Unearthed from Sony's vaults in 1997, GREATEST HITS LIVE is culled from 1981 and 1983 performances. This album is a must for Journey fans, and admirers of classic rock. An authentic live album, GREATEST HITS LIVE have been remixed, but with no overdubs. It is Journey at their raw best, and the sound quality is fantastic. The mandatory Top 10 hits are complemented by a few lesser known (but excellent!) cuts such as "Still They Ride" and "Stay Awhile."
The band is tight, and if you've never ...

| | Secret Stars CD (1996)
Alaska CD music
$36.09 Unlike his full-time band, Karate, in Secret Stars, the multi-talented Geoff Farina -- collaborating with his painter friend Jodi Buonanno -- takes a more lo-fi approach to music, freewheeling through mostly acoustic numbers. Farina and Buonanno formed Secret Stars in 1993, naming the project after talented friends of theirs who seemed to "shine in secrecy." With 20 stripped-down songs on their self-titled, full-length album, fans of Karate's more intricate, jazzy sound structures may not dig it, but it's a nice departure from that aesthetic. Buonanno has the most saccharine voice, and the few songs she sings are as perfectly pronounced as they are sad. In fact, most of the songs here are sad. And if they're not sad, they are simply Farina and Buonanno having a good time, reminiscing about their youth, perhaps. Only two very talented friends could pull off songs that reference people only they know, and still make the delivery appealing enough to woo the ears of sad, slowcore-loving indie rock kids. Though Farina's voice is pleasant, the listener may find himself wishing to hear Buonanno sing more; she does so only on about three songs. Most notable are the two tracks "Whisper: Eyelashes," and "Whisper: Heart." The lyrics in the latter hit home with anyone ...
| | Barbra Streisand Duets CD (2002) Remastered
Alaska music CDs
$6.85 DUETS is a compilation of duets and contains a new duet recording with Barry Manilow, "I Won't Be The One Let Go".
Barbra Streisand's long and varied career is the stuff of legend, as the actress/director/songstress consistently takes chances, never content to rest on her laurels. DUETS, a collection of her collaborations, reflects this wide-sweeping talent, amassing tracks from every facet of Streisand's career. DUETS includes partnerships with stars of pop, country, soul, disco, rock, songwriters of a bygone era, and stars of Broadway and opera. It boasts a track from probably the most famous record to bear the same title (Frank Sinatra's DUETS), a live duet with Dorothy herself culled from a 1963 episode of the Judy Garland Show, and the underappreciated mellow-cool "Guilty" with ...
| | Dislocation Dance Music Music Music/Slip That Disc! CD (2006) Reissue
Alaska songs
$14.29 LTM's reissue of Music Music Music trumps the earlier Vinyl Japan reissue a bit by including not only the "Rosemary" and "You'll Never, Never Know" singles but the entirety of Slip That Disc!, the band's second release after a tentative debut single. With a sharp new cover as well, the resultant disc is pretty close to definitive, capturing the brisk, peppy style of the band in lovely and low-key fashion as it ranges from jazz-tinged ballads to ska-beat stompers (albeit politely). Iconic singer/saxophonist Kathryn Way, who had appeared with the band in its earliest live versions, had yet to rejoin the group by the time of these recordings aside from the aforementioned singles but Ian Runacres's gently energetic singing was more than appropriate for the pop kick that the band excelled at. Andy Diagram's trumpet was clearly the other key element, ranging from the playful to the sweetly sleazy, adding to the arrangements while never dominating them. The resultant mix is so immediately appealing as to raise a smile -- there's something just sweetly captivating enough throughout the disc, even on the moodier numbers like "Yop's Choice" (Richard "Dick" Harrison's ...
