A survey of the eclectic U.K. reissue label RPM, HOW"S BOUT THAT THEN presents a cross-section of the historical sounds in their catalog, including artists like Leo Sayer and Mike d'Abo, obscure girl group pop and R&B like Doris La Belle, and 1960s "mood" music makers.
Excerpts from various series including Lipsmackin 70's, Mood Mosaic, Dream Babes, plus samples from regular catalog names like Leo Sayer and Mike D'Abo. Plenty of exclusives to the package too: Doris La Belle (artist on Dream Babes), Eddy Young (from the Beacon/Lets Cop A Groove artist stable ), Soul Purpose (from the Clarion label), Iron Virgin (artist on Velvet Tin mine), Bronx Cheer (future release), and significantly John Howard, all with tracks not available elsewhere. 45 minutes of late 60's - early 70's pop discotheque magic and a great way to sample a unique and cult retro catalog. 2005.
U.K. release.

| | Barry White All-Time Greatest Hits CD (1995)
How's Bout That Then? album
$11.99 Barry White's ALL-TIME GREATEST HITS contains the original single versions of his classic solo hits, as well as two songs White performed as the lead vocalist of the Love Unlimited Orchestra. All tracks were previously released on the 20th Century Records label.
All tracks digitally remastered by Gary Mayo (Polygram Studios).
It took quite a while for a definitive Barry White compilation to hit the market, but All-Time Greatest Hits -- part of Mercury's Funk Essentials series -- finally filled the bill in 1995. Boasting a full 20 tracks from White's heyday of 1973-1978, more than half of which made the R&B Top Ten, All-Time Greatest Hits is easily the most generous single-disc White collection on the market. It includes the edited single versions, not the full-length album tracks, which actually makes for a more digestible introduction to White's achievements. Like his forebear Isaac Hayes, White was not just a deep-voiced crooner, but a talented producer and arranger who'd spent years honing his craft behind the scenes in the ...
