| | Bonney & Buzz Rock-Ola CD Bonney & Buzz Discography of CDs
Bonney & Buzz - Rock-Ola CDTwo UK guitar legends from the 60's are together for the first time on this fabulous new CD. Rock-Ola features Bill Bonney of The Fentones ("The Mexican" and "The Breeze & I") and Pete "Buzz" Miller ("Can Can 62" and "Totem Pole"). Buzz was also half of the Shig & Buzz project that released the CD Double Diamonds on Shag's Mai Tai Records label in the mid-90's. Rock-Ola contains twelve more "diamonds", with a smooth, deep Euro-instro sound not too removed from The Shadows, but dense with mystery and intrigue.Tracks: The Sunburst Kid - Thunderbird Road - Drawn To The Sea - Summerstar - Bandido - Land Of The Blackhearts - Doodlebug - Bubble & Squeak - Cruise Six - Red Light Zone - Black Knickers - Electroglide. Here's what the press has said about 'Rock-Ola':Bonney & Buzz "Rock-Ola" (Double Crown Records) Anyone with even a vague awareness of rock and roll music already knows that England in the early sixties was where the action was. Rock-Ola album
$14.38 Glitter and Doom Live, a double-disc set, marks Tom Waits' third live effort in his nearly 40-year career, each one summing up his career to the point of its release. The first, Nighthawks at the Diner issued in 1975 on Asylum, is regarded by many as one of the greatest live albums of all time. The second was Big Time, released during his tenure at Island in 1986. The musical performances on disc one of Glitter and Doom Live were culled from Waits' historic sold-out tour of the U.S. and Europe. He compiled and sequenced the set himself, intending to make them sound like a single show. The material leans, understandably, on his recordings with the Anti label. There are stellar performances here, such as "Get Behind the Mule" from The Mule Variations, "Trampled Rose" from Real Gone, and a haunting version of Leadbelly's "Fannin Street" from Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards, to mention just three of the 17 cuts here. But he goes back to his Island albums too. For instance, there are completely re-visioned readings of "Lucky Day" and "I'll Shoot the Moon" from 1993's Black Rider, and a killer -- though equally revamped -- version of "Singapore" from 1985's Rain Dogs. Musically, the performances are flawless, as is the sound on this set. The killer stage band includes Vincent Henry on woodwinds and harmonica, guitarist Omar Torres, Patrick Warren on piano and keyboards, Casey Waits on drums/percussion, and Seth Ford Young on bass. There is also a guest appearance by Sullivan Waits on sax and clarinet; Tom plays piano and guitar. Waits decided ...
| | Sting If On A Winter's Night... CDs (2009) Digipak
Rock-Ola CD music
$14.19 It's no secret that Sting is a serious man, so it's only logical that his holiday album -- his first new music since the Police reunion, not that it really matters -- is a serious endeavor, thank you. No niceties for him, no comforts of carols; he favors formal over familiar, writing madrigals, not ditties. It is music made by someone who lives in a castle, which isn't necessarily such a bad thing: the austerity is genuine, not affected, and the cerebral nature of the album is fascinating, albeit mildly so, as this is as sleepy as it is thoughtful. And it's that thoughtfulness that does distinguish IF ON A WINTER NIGHT...; no other Christmas album exists in the head like this. It's a holiday album for people who have never wanted to hear a holiday album, let alone own one.

| | Justin Bieber My World CD (2009) Enhanced CD
Rock-Ola songs
$7.96 Within a couple years, Canadian teenager Justin Bieber went from covering Usher on YouTube to working with Usher. An internet sensation from his renditions of several pop and pop-oriented R&B hits, he was still only 15 years old when he released this, his first album -- though it's more like an EP since it is contains only seven songs that are 25 minutes in duration. Given the comfort level he showed in the material he covered, My World plays it straight, based on the kind of age-appropriate content that would fill out a release from a younger Chris Brown or a junior version of Ne-Yo. Members of the ...
| | Rod Stewart Never A Dull Moment (Gold) CD (1972) Gold
Rock-Ola album
$19.10 NEVER A DULL MOMENT picks up where EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY left off. Here we have more raucous rock & roll with healthy dollops of soul and twang thrown in for good measure. Always looking for a good songwriter to cover, Stewart's honorees here include Jimi Hendrix ("Angel"), Dylan ("Mama You Been On My Mind"), and Rod's personal hero, Sam Cooke ("Twistin' The Night Away"). Sidling up nicely next to these heartfelt interpretations are some of Stewart's finest original songs. Teaming with spiritual brother Ron Wood, Stewart offers up the cheeky "Italian Girls" and "True Blue," a track that goes along at a mid-tempo clip before exploding into a heartfelt rave-up.
Most notable is a collaboration with Martin Quittenton on "You Wear It Well," an irresistible addition to the Stewart canon. Although the Sam Cooke cover is the one spot ...

Rock-Ola album
$7.85 A collection of punk-pop savvy enough to hitch its wagon to teen pop punk wannabe Avril Lavigne's hit "Sk8er Boi," Sk8erboy Rock, Vol. 1 features some surprisingly decent music from bands that formed before Lavigne and her fans were even glimmers in their parents' eyes. The venerable Fleshtones contribute two of the album's best tracks, "One Less Step" and "God Damn It," both of which serve as reminders that they're easily the equals, if not superiors, of any of the bands in the garage rock revival of the '00s. Their contemporaries, Drivin' N Cryin', provide another of the collection's standouts, "Nothin to Lose." Dash Rip Rock and Flat Duo ...

Rock-Ola songs
$14.75 GREATEST HITS OF THE KALI YUGA collects the highlights from five of spiritual leader/singer Krishna Das's albums (plus one new track and a remix). A disciple of devotional yoga and kirtan (chanting the names of God), Krishna Das creates a remarkably effective combination of traditional Indian chanting and Western pop structures and melodies. Harmonium and tabla blend with guitar, bass, violin, and auxiliary percussion in ways that bridge East and West, giving rise to a stirring spiritual music that ...
