 Not the Full Version on Mine!
I disagree with the first review. I saw and loved the first, long edition of the movie in 1971 in London. I got a video of it around 1990, but this was cut to 2 hrs, 6 minutes. It deleted the entire battle of Ligny, and cut the ballroom scenes shorter too. I just got this DVD, and it is the SHORT version. In fact, I think it is even shorter -- it cuts out the scene of Wellington visiting Blucher right before the battle of Ligny. That scene is in the video, but missing in this DVD! I bought this DVD solely due to the first review that said it restores the full length movie. MY version, at least is shorter! A great disappointment that this DVD, which should have contained the full version of this great movie, is hacked even shorter. A shame!

 Waterloo Finally on DVD
I have waited for a long time to purchase this military classic on dvd. I was not disappointed by the quality or the product. It is in wide screen and is the full length that was in the theaters back in 1970. Great acting by both of the lead charicters Plummer and Rod Steiger. Large battle sceines with great sound and fabulous colour. I recomend it to all lovers of good war movies.

 Just what I expected!
This is a hard to get movie... I could not find it anywhere else. It was filmed in 1971 with an all-star cast, fairly historically correct.

 Best Film, shame about length!
I am a great fan of this movie and the period in general. Whilst it has its historical flaws, it remains a real dramatic account of one of histories most important events. The acting is good and the acting by Steiger revealed all the hard work he put into studying and 'becoming' his character - a great actor for a great historical figure! No expense was spared on uniforms, buildings and battle recreation. Waterloo (the battle) remains one of histories most facinating events - I think more books have been (and are being) written about this battle than any other n history. Whilst a modern version would be awesome with todays movie technology, this film will stand the test of time for as long as films are made. I am working now as a screenplay writer - one of my future projects will definately focus on this period. I have personal reasons for hoping for success with that project (payment naturally!) But what a welcome addition to the many great historical movies made in the last ten years a new film would be. What a terrible shame that the full length version of this film is not available - I hear of 4 hour plus versions! understandable when you consider the Director's other work on the period ('War and Peace')(ran for 8 hours plus I guess. I know that somewhere in Russia there will be all the 'cut' material for this movie - a directors version is long overdue - okay, so Bondachuk ain't around, but someone else could do it. A shame Kubrik ain#t around either, he would be my choice of director for a new film. In short, a must for anyone who likes a rousing good historical tale! buy it, in fact buy a spare as well!

 superb
this is the best movie about Napoleon's last battle from all movies I have seen (5). It follows historical details without loosing dramatic component of the movie.
