Unconditional album
$9.99 Blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan was already a legend when he was killed in a helicopter crash in 1990. Like all talents who die early, he has left behind a legacy of myths and stories concerning his complex life and persona. This very special video release -- which contains a 1983 and a 1989 appearance on the television show "Austin City Limits" -- provide a glimpse into the mythical musician at the beginning and the end of his short career. Eleven tracks are virtuostically performed here; half by the young, newly successful Vaughan, and half by an older, calmer and more together Vaughan. An intriguing musical look at the evolution of a man who became a myth.

| | Blackfoot Strikes CD (1979)
Unconditional CD music
$7.09 With the tragic death of several Lynyrd Skynyrd members in 1977 and the band's prompt breakup, there was a huge hole left in the Southern rock genre. Though several bands were hailed as inheritors to the throne, Blackfoot was one of the first Southern rock bands to score a big hit after the tragedy, with 1979's STRIKES.
Although Blackfoot's music is slightly harder than Skynyrd's, bordering on heavy metal at times, both groups were clearly unashamed of their Southern roots. After two releases, 1975's NO RESERVATIONS and 1976's FLYIN' HIGH, had come and gone with little success, Blackfoot scored with American rock fans with STRIKES. Highlights include such tough rockers as "Road Fever," "I Got a Line on You," and "Pay My Dues," making STRIKES Blackfoot's best and most popular album of their career.

| | Black Sabbath Paranoid CD (1971)
Unconditional music CDs
$8.59 PARANOID proved to be Black Sabbath's most focused, consistent, and successful record. Leaving behind the amorphous, extended jams of their debut for focused songs and a more structured sound, Black Sabbath virtually wrote the book on heavy metal with the ominous, unforgettable riffs, thunderous rhythms, and dark themes on this release. There are some up-tempo rockers, the famous title track for one, but for the most part PARANOID oozes along like a bad dream, as on the slinky, creepy opener, "War Pigs," or the lumbering thud of "Iron Man" (which boasts one of the most indelible electric guitar riffs in rock history).
The album's title is apt: PARANOID is filled with an edgy aggression and lyrics about war, insanity, death, and destruction. Ozzy Osbourne's flat, affectless voice merges perfectly with Tony Iommi's fuzzed-out, sledgehammer power chords and the bruising bass and drum lines to create an intense, freaky, horror-show universe. There are elements of blues-rock and psychedelia (the floating "Planet Caravan," in particular), but Black Sabbath basically invents here ...
| | Muse Black Holes And Revelations CD (2006)
Unconditional songs
$13.49 Over the course of their first three studio albums Muse slowly gained ground as one of the more progressive and accomplished rock bands of the 2000s. By the time of 2006's BLACK HOLES AND REVELATIONS, the process was complete. While still steeped in moody Britpop, wall-of-guitar rock, and space-synth soundscapes, BLACK HOLES finds Muse diversifying their already broad palette and creating one of their most ambitious efforts.
The tune "Supermassive Black Hole" is a case in point. A club-ready funk groove underpins the crunching guitars, proving Muse as capable of moving the body as expanding the mind. Elsewhere, the band experiments with flamenco-flavored guitars and mariachi horns amid their dense waves of guitars and electronics, while lead singer Matt Bellamy sings of apocalyptic themes, environmental degradation, and revolution. The effect, sonically and otherwise, is expansive and powerful, and the successful conflation of dance-rock, prog-rock, and hard rock underscore Muse's knack for fearlessly pushing several buttons at once.

| | Buddy Guy Skin Deep CD (2008)
Unconditional CD music
$11.29 From the slinky, sexy opener, "Best Damn Fool," to the blues history lesson of "Who's Gonna Fill Those Shoes," to the slow-burn closer "I Found Happiness," Guy doesn't seem to have mellowed with age. In fact, he wails and shreds here with as much passion as ever. Eric Clapton, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi, and Robert Randolph all lend a hand, but Buddy is in charge here, much the way he has always been.
By the time SKIN DEEP was released in 2008, Buddy Guy was in his early 70s. The thing is, there are only a few tell-tale signs that Guy has aged any since his blistering work from the 1960s and `70s, and these signs-which include the slick, contemporary production, and the veteran-performer trend of having a parade of guest artists on the album-- are largely superficial. In truth, Guy still plays and sings like the urban blues monster he remains.

| | Mods Mayday '79 CDs (1997)
Unconditional songs
$17.35 Since the British music market was flooded with mod-revivalists in the late '70s, the only effective way to promote the bands was through package tours -- several like-minded (and like-sounding) bands playing short sets on the same night. Mods Mayday '79 is a classic collection which compiles the highlights of one of these tours. Most of the second wave revivalists -- bands who received their inspiration directly from the Jam's early albums -- are represented: Secret Affair, Beggar, Small Hours, the Mods, Squire, and the Merton Parkas. The one glaring omission is the Lambrettas, who where unable to attend the tour due to contractual obligations. Nevertheless, this provides the best look at the genre and is the only place to hear some of the bands who, despite their derivative nature, wrote some excellent pop songs that hold up pretty well even when removed from their context. ~ Chris Woodstra

$13.15 About Conley-SchmidtFormerly known as The Schmidts & First Love, Conley • Schmidt has been singing and performing in one way or another for 18 years. Singers and pickers have come and gone but it all began with a love for music and the Giver of Music and that love just grows stronger. As time marches on the group just gets better- the harmonies get sweeter and the pickin' gets tighter. Their latest album self-titled Conley • Schmidt & First Love , is all over the bluegrass map with some high lonesome sound, a few Osborne Brothers tunes, a little country, a little yodel, and a song written by both Stephen & Orie. Take all of that and add some amazing instrumental solos and 3 and 4 part harmony and that's the Conley • Schmidt experience. ...
