This special 2-dvd set features the legendary Hendrix Woodstock festival material in a way never before presented. Disc one features never-before-seen footage of "Message to Love," "Spanish Castle Magic," "Foxey Lady," "Love Man" and "Hey Joe," remixed in 5.1 Surround. Also includes a new documentary "Road to Woodstock". Disc 2 features a never-before-seen black & white video recording with alternate camera angles in color of the entire preformance including the previously unavailable song "Hear My Train a Comin'". Also includes the Hendrix presss conference of 9/03/69 at Frank's Restaurant in Harlem. Nine o'clock on Monday morning, August 18, 1969: while the work force was starting the day, Jimi Hendrix was taking the stage at Woodstock. While hundreds of thousands had already left, 25,000 people remained to see this incredible performance. Hendrix, along with drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Billy Cox, offered masterly renditions of the songs of the recently disbanded Experience ("Hey Joe," "Foxey Lady"), and gave a preview of the blues-based Band of Gypsys ("Izabella," "Hear My Train A Comin'"), as well as Jimi's era-defining rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner." Though the weekend had witnessed some landmark performances by other great artists, this performance from Hendrix is regarded by many as the defining moment in a festival ripe with defining moments. Jimi Hendrix - Live At Woodstock Reviews: 3 stars out of 5 -- "Playing on the morning after the festival officially ended, Hendrix delivered a fascinating yet ragged set..."
-- Peter Relic, Rolling Stone 4 stars out of 5 -- "[T]he first few bars of the huge, five-minute guitar solo that follows an incendiary 'Purple Haze' are surely among Hendrix's most fearsome."

The previous DVD showing Hendrix at Woodstock was released in 1999. So what the fuss is all about? Here you are: the then edition lasted only 55 minutes, this one lasts almost 2 hours. The then edition had a grainy picture, this one is as sharp as a razor. The then edition had a stereo sound, this one has 5.1 audio mix by high'n'mighty Eddie K. The then edition presented only
half of Jimi's songs performed by him at Woodstock. This one shows all of them
in their original sequence. The then edition was shot from a different camera
angle, this one - from yet another angle. Last but not least, this edition
costs elsewhere twice as much as HERE -
at CD UNIVERSE.

Hendrix live at Woodstock-glued to my chair In 1968 I had tickets to see Jimi Hendrix at The Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, Connecticut. Unfortunetly the show canceled and I never got to see Hendrix so seeing this performance on DVD is a real treat. What a fantastic improvisor. You can tell the guy just loved to Jam and create as went along. No dought he never played a song the same twice. The performance just kept gaining strength. You wished it would never end. I was glued to my chair. Submitted by richardy (Clinton, Ct.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$22.75 Very few Led Zeppelin performances were caught on camera during the band's life-span, but the footage that has been preserved for posterity is collected on this release. With a running time of over five-and-a-half hours, this is the definitive word on Zep's global stage-straddling performances. The footage is taken from London's Royal Albert Hall in January 1970, London's Earls Court in May 1975, Knebworth ...

$20.85 Cream's set of reunion shows in May 2005 was a justly hot ticket. The legendary rock trio of Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce, and Eric Clapton--two jazz musicians and a blues guitarist--was one of the most influential bands of the 1960s, even though they played together for less than three years. They brought their psychedelic fusion of blues and pop into the mainstream with albums like FRESH CREAM and WHEELS OF FIRE; Clapton, long regarded as one of the greatest ...

$9.79 A complex plot and a noirish feel characterize this exciting Western, which takes place in part during a flashback from contemporary 1948. The tale centers on the legendary Lost Dutchman mine, worth $20 million and notorious for its apparent curse upon all those who attempt to claim it. The grandson of Jacob "Dutch" Waltz, who discovered it, sets out to relocate the mine, and the story travels back in time to follow Dutch (Glenn Ford, SUPERMAN) in his initial explorations. A wealthy ...
