| | Dianne Reeves Good Night, & Good Luck Soundtrack CD (5 Customer Reviews)
The musical accompaniment to George Clooney's biopic of journalist Ed Murrow, GOODNIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK, is crammed with contemporary jazz versions of 1940s and '50s favorites like "Straighten Up and Fly Right" and Dinah Washington's novelty hit "TV Is the Thing This Year" (minus the original's slightly risqué verses). Reeves, together with a combo that includes saxophonist Matt Catingub and pianist Peter Martin, conjures an authentic cigarette-and-Martini soaked atmosphere on an exceptional soundtrack that's also a fine album in its own right. Good Night, & Good Luck Soundtrack
$9.59 As a teenage piano-and-vocal prodigy, Peter Cincotti was, predictably, subject to criticisms of being nothing more than a pale imitation of his influences. On his second full-length album, ON THE MOON, however, the New York City native exhibits the type of quiet confidence that normally takes decades to ...

Good Night, & Good Luck Soundtrack
$9.55 Though the second volume of Forbidden Broadway was recorded and released in 1991, writer/director Gerard Alessandrini apparently hadn't quite had his say on the Broadway shows of the late 1980s, since he mixes into the third volume his parodies of Grand Hotel ("Grim Hotel") and a production of The Merchant of Venice starring Dustin Hoffman as Shylock, both of which ...

| | Plumtree This Day Won't Last At All CD (2000)
Good Night, & Good Luck Soundtrack
$16.45 Plumtree's final release, This Day Won't Last at All, marks the point at which everything began to come together -- their sweet harmonies and punk-pop sound had finally grown and developed into more complicated song structure, incorporating their choppier roots with calm and subtlety. Granted, the songs are still not complex by any means, but the simplicity of the playing is overshadowed by their stunning lyrics. Themes are fairly basic, mostly dealing with bitter relationships, but the all-girl quartet gives their songs a different sound and a different feel somehow. Perhaps it has something to do with Carla Gillis and Amanda Braden alternating on lead vocal duties, each giving their songs a different feeling. Fast-paced tracks (similar to their work on previous albums like Mass Teen Fainting and Predicts the Future) get the album going, with highlights including the album-opening "Was That All?" and "Tonight's ...
