The Irish/African/international collective Afro Celt System's fifth platter is a bit more reserved than some of their previous sets, but no less compelling. While in the past they've combined traditional music of Celtic and African sources with contemporary dancefloor mixology, ANATOMIC may be considered their "ambient" or "chill-out" album. Featuring guest singer Dorothee Munyaneza (from the HOTEL RWANDA soundtrack), ANATOMIC fuses cyclical, sighing Irish melodies, pensive West African folk music, dance beats, echoes of Indian music, and more, creating their own abundant-as-a-rainforest, compassionately captivating sound-world.

| | Lara Fabian CD (2000)
Volume 5: Anatomic
$7.59 Industry bigwig Tommy Mottola's discovery, French-language chanteuse Lara Fabian hits it big with her self-titled English solo debut. Packed with passionate love songs in the Barbara Streisand and Celine Dion vein, Fabian takes the power ballad one step further. Her voice and music are best described as dramatic, the songs here ranging from catchy tailor-made Top-40 dance tracks such as "Till I Get Over You," and "I Will Love Again," to power ballads such as "Adagio," which appears here both in English and Italian.
Fabian's voice is clear and amazingly strong, ranging from a near-whisper to a powerful belt. The lyrics are non-offensive and inspirational in a broken-hearted sort of way. Fans of Celine Dion and Mariah Carey will find Lara Fabian the ideal addition to their record collections.

| | Afro Celt Sound System Volume 2: Release CD (1999)
Volume 5: Anatomic
$22.09 Afro Celt Sound System started as a fairly nebulous, if noble, idea--bring together an assortment of European and African musicians and hope to come up with a result greater than the sum of the project's parts. The idea paid off, and the progress of the band may be measured by its confidence in moving well beyond its initial premise.
With its second album, RELEASE, the group coalesces around the talents of seven Irish and African performers and more prominent dance beats. Sinead O'Connor provides a haunting vocal element on the title track, while "Even in My Dreams" sets an angelic harp against an initial trip-hop sequence.
Recorded at Sonic Innovation, London, England.
VOLUME 2: RELEASE was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best World Music Album.
Lyricists: Iarla O Lionáird; N'Faly Kouyate.

Volume 5: Anatomic
$22.09 Additional personnel includes: Peter Gabriel (vocals, keyboards); Julie Murphy, Screaming Orphans, Pina Kollars, Robert Plant (vocals); Nawazish Ali Khan (violin); Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh, Ciaran Tourish (fiddle); Rosie Wetters (cello); Myrdhin (Celtic Harp); Nigel Eaton (hurdy-gurdy); Wired Strings (strings); Liam O'Flynn (Uilleann pipes); John Fortis (bass); Sunil Kaylan (tabla); Pete Lockett, Hossam Ramzy (percussion).
On its third outing, the multi-cultural sonic collective known as the Afro-Celt Sound System continues to flex its eclectic musical muscles in a variety of areas. As on past recordings, the predominant sound is a mix of world music, dance/electronica, pop, and a kind of modern art-rock.
The opening track "North" typifies this approach, as tribal chanting and African-sounding rhythms collide with swirling bagpipes in a very danceable ...
| | Porcupine Tree Deadwing CD (2005)
Volume 5: Anatomic
$10.59 Considering their cinematic scope, it's fitting that the songs on DEADWING were actually inspired by a film script written by Porcupine Tree mastermind Steven Wilson. Not that this should come as any surprise to longtime fans who know the UK act's reputation for churning out epic progressive rock so sonically descriptive that it's practically visual.
Porcupine Tree creates works with complex structures that do not alienate or obscure the songs themselves, pieces that are ...
| | Kate Bush Aerial CDs (2005)
Volume 5: Anatomic
$15.95 Since the 1980s Kate Bush has shouldered the unhappy burden of having to live up to her own brilliance: albums like THE DREAMING and HOUNDS OF LOVE set a high watermark for shimmering, adventurous, off-kilter pop. In the 12 years that transpired between the releases of 1993's THE RED SHOES and 2005's AERIAL, expectations ran high that Bush had something monumental in store. AERIAL does not necessarily meet those expectations, but ...

Volume 5: Anatomic
$7.79 The Flamingos were arguably the greatest of the doo wop-era harmony groups, setting a standard for elegance, particularly on ballads, that has seldom been equaled. They were unique in many ways, which included playing their own instruments (making them the first real self-contained R&B vocal group) and in their innovative stage choreography, which anticipated the look and style of later ...
