Some rappers will do anything for respect, even starting a beef with another rapper or crew..and that can lead to raw, brutal conflict in the streets. This DVD is about high-profile beefs in the hip-hop culture. This program features beefs between 50 Cent and Game, Lil Flip and TI, Nelly and Chingy, Twista and Bone Thugz, Lil Scrappy and the Orlando Police, and many more. This program focuses on the high-profile conflicts and rivalries emerging between hip-hop artists. These battles might be called cat fights if their participants didn't put so much stress on machismo; the back-and-forth insult contests can lead to impressive wordplay and entertainment--but also, sometimes, to violence. The "beefs" between 50 Cent and The Game, Lil' Flip and TI, and Nelly and Chingy are just a few of those examined here. | | Bun B Trill CD (2005)
Beef 3 review
$15.65 Personnel: Bun B; Jazze Pha, Juvenile, Lil Jon, Mannie Fresh, Mddl Fngz, Mike Jones , Paul Wall , Pimp C, Scarface, Slim Thug, T.I., Too $hort, Young Jeezy, Z-Ro, Lil' Flip, Devin the Dude, Petty Pueblo. With his partner Pimp C struggling with legal problems and eventually incarceration, fellow UGK member Bun B was forced to go it alone. His Mddl Fngz project was satisfying and his guest appearances are always welcome, but with Trill he establishes himself as an exciting solo artist benefiting from both experience and the hunger of someone just joining the game. There's a ridiculously star-studded guest list to come, but before thrilling the listener with Jay-Z, Ludacris, Ying Yang Twins, Mannie Fresh, and even Too Short, Bun B takes the first highlight for his own, delivering "Bun" like an up-and-comer on his first big mixtape. Beating Mike Jones and Paul Wall at their own game, B follows up his new anthem with two hooky hanging-out tracks, the celebrity-packed "Get Throwed" with Z-Ro and Jay-Z and the magnificent "Draped Up" featuring Lil' Keke and referencing DJ Screw for Southern hood authenticity. As the album progresses with one inspired guest appearance after another and 31 flavors of hip-hop for the tasting, Trill becomes the more street-level alternative to its ...
| | Chamillionaire Sound Of Revenge CD (2005) Parental Advisory
Beef 3 DVD
$13.15 Personnel: Chamillionaire (rap vocals); Killer Mike, Krayzie Bone, Lil Wayne, Pastor Troy, Rasaq, Scarface, Lil' Flip, Natalie , Bun B (rap vocals). With THE SOUND OF REVENGE, Chamillionaire's 2005 Universal debut, the Houston-based rapper makes the most of his major-label deal, which includes his own Chamillitary imprint. On SOR, Paul Wall's former collaborator amps up that duo's signature chopped-and-screwed mixtape sound with heavy-duty arrangements that expertly showcase Chamillionaire's deep, husky voice. The introductory title track is marked by machine-gun beats, and establishes the album's fierce, restless mood. But the disc's highlight is the utterly infectious single "Turn It Up," which boasts Scott Storch's distinctive chiming production and an appearance by Lil' Flip. Although fellow Texan Bun-B, Krayzie Bone, and others also show up, REVENGE doesn't rely on guest shots; this is Chamillionaire's show through and through, as proven by each track on this assured and potent record. An ...
| | Juelz Santana What The Game's Been Missing CD (2005) With DVD; Limited Edition; Deluxe Edition
Beef 3 movie DVD
$14.89 With the swift wit and relaxed swagger that marked his many guest appearances for Cam'Ron, Harlem rapper Juelz Santana quickly established himself as the one to watch in that rapper's Dipset crew. After a solid, if uneven 2003 solo debut, Santana delivered on the hype with his second release, 2005's WHAT THE GAME'S BEEN MISSING. A remarkably versatile MC, Santana can paint a desperate, vivid picture of growing up in the concrete jungle ("Rumble Young Man Rumble") or unleash tremendous fire as he ponders the roots of rap's often bloody state-of-affairs ("Violence"). However, he can also turn a sinister Geto Boys sample into a tender ode to his young son ("Daddy") or get just plain silly, as he does for the single "There It Go (The Whistle Song)." While the title's boast is nearly impossible to back up, Juelz Santana does prove he has something to add to the game on this consistently inventive sophomore release. Dipset member Juelz Santana took two years to release his sophomore album, but he was hardly absent from the scene. Plenty of proper Diplomats releases and ...
