Les Paul - Instructional DVD for Guitar Movie Review Average Rating: (2.3 out of 5 stars) Les Paul, but wrong DVD title and description Interesting video of Les Paul - but note that product title ('Les Paul and Friends: He Changed the Music') and description is incorrect. This video is different from the one titled, and has old TV and recent concert clips of Les playing, as well as interviews. Includes booklet with tab. The titled DVD is a great concert video (I only have it on VHS, unfortunately) with Les, Eddie Van Halen, Dave Gilmore, Stanley Jordan, and many others. However, I have never seen this on NTSC DVD. | | Steppenwolf CD (1968)
Les Paul - Instructional DVD for Guitar film
$6.49 The beginnings of heavy metal can be pinpointed to a single song, Steppenwolf's biker classic "Born to Be Wild," featured on this classic self-titled 1968 debut. Originally from Canada, Steppenwolf exploded out of the West Coast, led by singer/guitarist John Kay. The band took the blues rock of Cream and cranking the volume a few notches higher to create its own style.
There's more to Steppenwolf's great debut than just the aforementioned "Wild" rock standard. There's a fun tribute to Chuck Berry in "Berry Rides Again," the sexually-charged "Sookie Sookie," and the anti-drug statement "The Pusher" (later covered by Blind Melon in the '90s).
Originally released on MCA (31020).

| | Steppenwolf At Your Birthday Party CD (1969)
Les Paul - Instructional DVD for Guitar review
$5.45 Though only Steppewolf's third release in two years, 1969's AT YOUR BIRTHDAY PARTY isn't as flawless and inspired as the band's two previous recordings. But the album still packed quite a wallop and spawned yet another rock-radio standard, "Rock Me." One of the band's more underrated albums, even among longtime fans, AT YOUR BIRTHDAY PARTY contains typical Steppenwolf rockers like the aforementioned "Rock Me," "Jupiter Child," ...
| | Reverend Gary Davis Guitar & Banjo Of Rev. Gary Davis CD (1964)
Les Paul - Instructional DVD for Guitar DVD
$8.29 Because this is an all-instrumental recording, it's an offbeat entry into the catalog of a performer known both as an important guitarist and as a singer. Some might miss Davis' vocals on this 1964 recording, but on the other hand there are plenty of records with him singing around. This gives listeners a chance to hone in on his dexterous guitar skills, blending ragtime, folk, and blues, usually on guitar (though he plays banjo on a couple of songs, and harmonica on one). "Maple Leaf Rag" is a natural showcase for Davis' talents, and "Candy Man," which may be his most well-known song, is here presented ...
