| | Tossers Valley Of The Shadow Of Death CD Tossers Discography of CDs
Chicago-based heirs to the Pogues' booze-soaked mantle, the Tossers have built up a reputation since the mid-1990s for purveying high-quality contemporary Irish folk-punk with a point of view from about the bottom third of a whiskey bottle. Their fifth album increases their legend with a confident set of alcohol-based themes. Singer and main songwriter Tony Duggins mirrors Shane MacGowan's displaced person's yearning for Ireland in songs like the tear-stained ballad "The Crock of Gold" and the raucous "No Loot, No Booze, No Fun," and, if he doesn't possess MacGowan's poet's soul, he at least for now still has his own teeth, and a functioning liver.

Valley Of The Shadow Of Death album
$12.15 The easiest thing in the world to do is to compare this band to the Pogues. Indeed, their music gives the listener a warm spot in an angry heart that has likely remained cold since songs like "The Sick Bed of Cuchulainn." But scratch the surface beneath the tin whistles and percussive, rapid-fire strings and the Tossers have a sound all their own, as well as a political sensibility that could have been born nowhere else but the south side of Chicago. Their agit-prop style carries songs which are long on thought with a rousing punk sound that manages to cram in a huge number of musical influences from ...

Valley Of The Shadow Of Death songs
$15.09 This compilation presents a potent if scattershot look at the early years of the soul music revolution. There's little in the way of a common thread; everything from the Impressions' obscure "Shorty's Gotta Go" (recorded on Bandera Records) to Richard Berry & the Pharoahs' pulsating "Have Love Will Travel" is featured. With few exceptions (i.e., the Spinners' "That's What Girls Are Made For," Ike & Tina Turner's "It's Gonna Work Out Fine," and Wilson Pickett's "It's Too Late"), most of these tracks are hard to find on CD. The set includes rare Motown tracks: Jimmy Ruffin's "Don't Feel Sorry for Me" (his first recording), the Miracles' "If Your Mother Only Knew" (the flip side of "Way Over There"), ...

Valley Of The Shadow Of Death album
$11.99 Captured at a crucial mid-point juncture in Tangerine Dream's career, LIVE MILES was the trio's last recording for the Jive Electro label and, more importantly, the final appearance of long-time drummer/percussionist Chris Franke before he departed for America to work on his own music. The CD contains two half-hour sets, the first recorded in 1986 during a U.S. tour, the second in West Berlin in 1987.

| | Rza Presents Northstar CD (2003)
Valley Of The Shadow Of Death CD music
$9.29 The past few years have been an interesting ride for Wu leader/beat genius RZA. For every moment of brilliance (his score for Kill Bill, Bobby Digital), there have been moments to balance the brilliance out. And while Northstar isn't up on the mantle with some of the aforementioned projects, it certainly proves the case that RZA can certainly rise to the occasion when motivated. A pair of tracks from house producer Armand Van Helden show up here but mesh in seamlessly, no doubt a testament to Van Helden's versatility behind the mixing board. Two non-Wu members (Christ Bearer and Meko) make their debut and present a convincing case that RZA's success isn't necessarily dependent ...
