Thanks for the Memory: The Great American Songbook, Vol. 4 album for sale Product Description
Thanks for the Memory: The Great American Songbook, Vol. 4 album for sale by Rod Stewart was released Oct 18, 2005 on the J label. Apparently, Rod Stewart's desire to cover American jazz/pop classics is as great as the titular SONGBOOK itself, since this is the gravelly voiced British singer's fourth foray into standards territory. THANKS FOR THE MEMORY features more guest artists than the two previous discs in the series, with Stewart's collaborators ranging from R&B legend Diana Ross (on the playfully romantic "I've Got a Crush on You") to smooth-jazz trumpeter Chris Botti (who lends his pleasant horn lines to "I Wish You Love"). Thanks for the Memory: The Great American Songbook, Vol. 4 CD music contains a single disc with 13 songs. ...See Full Description

mah! i hope this is the last one By francesco (italy)
Excellent This CD is great and another hit for Rod. I hope he continues with this type of music. By pppdonal (Cranberry Twp, Pa USA)
Reviewer from Australia is 100 Right! To rate this album anywhere below 3 stars you must have a problem. My favorite Rod Stewart album is Gasoline Alley however that certainly does not prevent me from enjoying other facets of this great artist's career. By faust8577 (Lorraine, Que. Canada)

Who Ultimate Collection CDs (2002) Top Seller
Thanks for the Memory: The Great American Songbook, Vol. 4 buy CD music Initial pressings of THE ULTIMATE COLLECTION included a limited edition bonus disc featuring four previously unreleased tracks.
Recorded between November 1964 and June 1982. Includes liner notes by Matt Kent and Andy Neill.
When it comes to a ground-breaking, iconic band like the Who, dubbing an anthology THE ULTIMATE COLLECTION is no small claim. The kicker here is that it happens to be the truth. Without venturing into the realm of the box set, there's never been such a definitive batch of Who tunes all under one roof before. Virtually all the bases are covered here, from such attitude-laden mid-'60s mod anthems as "My Generation" and "Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere" to the conceptual expansiveness of TOMMY-era tunes ("I'm Free," "See Me Feel Me"). We get the full-on long-haired, bare-chested glory of the early '70s ("Won't Get Fooled Again") as well as the tapered, synth-flecked smartness of the early '80s ("Eminence Front," "You Better You Bet." For someone looking for an entry point into the work of this larger-than-life group, or just somebody who wants a great all-purpose who disc, THE ULTIMATE COLLECTION is truly a case of truth in advertising. Get one.
Keith Moon, Kenney Jones (drums).

John Fogerty Deja Vu All Over Again CD (2004)
Thanks for the Memory: The Great American Songbook, Vol. 4 songs Attention rock & roll fans! Presenting John Fogerty -- the name you know, the music you trust -- in a new, improved 2004 version! DEJA VU ALL OVER AGAIN contains tunes that admirers of classic rock can appreciate, like the old-school acoustic blues-rock of "Honey Do." The record features themes reminiscent of Fogerty's heyday, particularly the quasi-political title track. And just when you thought it couldn't get any better, there's Mark Knopfler laying down those "Sultans of Swing" licks on "Nobody's Here Anymore." Owing a lot to Creedence Clearwater Revival circa PENDULUM, the DEJA VU of the album's title feels more like a summing up. The crispy riffs of "She's Got Baggage" and the Cream-y "In the Garden" may rock harder, leaner, and cleaner than anything Fogerty has ever done, but "Rhubarb Pie" and "I Will Walk with You" have a feel reminiscent of Fogerty's BLUE RIDGE RANGERS album. Elsewhere, the "Wicked Old Witch" could be the wife of Fogerty's earlier "The Old Man Down the Road." Fortunately, this all adds up to the kind of familiarity that breeds anything but contempt, making DÉJA VU a warm reminder of this rock & roll giant's gift.

As Time Goes By: The Great American Songbook, Vol. 2 CD (2003) Top Seller
Thanks for the Memory: The Great American Songbook, Vol. 4 album for sale AS TIME GOES BY VOL. 2 was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.
On his second album tackling the Great American Songbook of the album's subtitle, Rod Stewart sounds even more energized, and seems to insert more of himself into his delivery of gems by the Gershwins, Rodgers & Hart, et al. Though two veteran pop-rock producers (Richard Perry and Phil Ramone) handle most of the tracks, they wisely make no attempt to "rock up" any of the arrangements, instead leaving Stewart to explore his balladeer side to its fullest.
One may wonder why the Perry-produced tracks feature layers of string synthesizer, when Ramone's cuts employ the real thing; presuming that there was no lack of budget here, it must have been some inscrutable aesthetic choice. While those more accustomed to a traditional approach may be put off by this aspect, or by a pair of duets with Cher and Queen Latifah, this album isn't for them anyway. It's for those who have followed Stewart through all the stylistic byways of his career and are ready to go with him around one more bend.
Personnel includes: Rod Stewart (vocals, whistling); Cher, Queen Latifah (vocals); David Spinozza (acoustic guitar); Dean Parks, Aaron Kaplan, Larry Koonse (guitar); Rob Mathes (nylon string guitar, keyboards); Elana Barere, Avril Brown (violin); Vincent Lionti, Adria Benjamin (viola); Richard Locker, Ann Kim (cello); Lawrence Feldman (clarinet); Dave Koz (alto saxophone); Doug Webb (saxophone); Arturo Sandoval (trumpet); Mike Thompson (piano, synthesizer); Henry Hey (piano); Phillippe Saise, Rob Mounsey (keyboards); Joe Locke (vibraphone); Tom Barney, Reggie McBride (bass); John Ferraro, Shawn Pelton (drums); .

Stardust: The Great American Songbook, Vol. 3 CD (2004) Top Seller
Thanks for the Memory: The Great American Songbook, Vol. 4 CD music Neither Rod Stewart nor producer Clive Davis have ever been accused of letting any moss grow around them, so when Stewart's first collection of tunes from the Great American Songbook turned out to be a smash, they followed it up with a sequel, and, eventually, with a third volume. As with the preceding albums, STARDUST finds Stewart tackling the cream of the crop of classic pop standards, songs that will be instantly familiar to followers of Bennett, Sinatra, et al. but which may conceivably be new to some of Rod's more rock-oriented fans. In that sense, the record can be seen as a public service, introducing those woefully benighted souls to such masterworks as the Gershwins' lovelorn ballad "But Not for Me," and the transcendently stellar, Hoagy Carmichael-penned title tune. As if the material wasn't firepower enough, the album's profile is further raised by some heavyweight guest stars; Dolly Parton is Stewart's sassy foil on "Baby, It's Cold Outside," Stevie Wonder contributes his trademark chromatic harmonica magic to "What a Wonderful World," and Eric Clapton adds to the poignancy of "Blue Moon" with some lyrical guitar work.
