| | Kris Voelker Just Breathe CD (2007)
Desert Spa album
$17.09 In January 2005, Kris packed up her belongings and moved from Ohio to Colorado because of a yearning and longing that would not go away. Upon seeing the mountains, something inside shifted and unbeknownst to her at the time, she came home to her music and herself. After the usual twists and turns of acclimating to a new place, Kris was guided very strongly from her Spiritual support team to go out and purchase a keyboard. She thought that was rather odd, since she had no idea how to play one. However, she listened and ended up purchasing a Korg X50 music synthesizer. She brought it home and became familiar with it's functions and abilities and softly whispered to herself, "now what." A little voice inside began teaching her how to play and how to relate the chords she knew from playing guitar to her new keyboard. Within weeks, she was playing and creating music and from that moment on, her life changed as she found her way back to her inner source of expression. Since that time, she has created an instrumental cd entitled Heart Rhythms and a chakra balancing cd entitled Chakra Balance. Enjoying the process of creating, Kris continued writing and returned to her old time friend and companion, her 614ce Taylor guitar. She began writing lyrics and music that spoke of her inner belief that "we are Spiritual beings having a human experience." This writing phase lead to the self-produced album Just Breathe. On this album, Kris wrote, played, recorded, mixed and mastered all of the tracks. With the help of her Guides, she learned to use the DAW software Pro Tools and Waves audio signal processing software to create this project. In October 2007, Kris performed her music at World Angel Day in Phoenix Arizona. She was invited to play by Sunny Dawn Johnston and she wrote two songs for the event; "Help Me" and "You're My Angel." She got to see first hand how her music affected the audience. Her music ...
| | Peggy Lee Lost 40'S & 50'S Capitol Masters CDs (2008) Remastered
Desert Spa CD music
$21.29 Despite extensive CD reissues of the recordings of Peggy Lee, there have remained many tracks of hers that never got into the digital era. Indeed, given that she came up at a time when the 78-rpm single was the major recorded format, there are even Lee recordings that were never transferred to LP. This 109-minute, 39-track, two-CD set goes a long way toward unearthing Lee's obscurities, at least from the early part of her solo career. Running chronologically, it begins with her first session for Capitol Records in January 1944, when she was functioning essentially as a band singer with a studio group called the Capitol Jazzmen, and follows her for eight years until the February 1952 session that was her last for Capitol before she spent a five-year sojourn with Decca Records. None of the tracks have been released previously on compact disc; most come from singles, although 14 have never been released before. As such, this constitutes a kind of alternate history of Peggy Lee's early solo years, but actually it is not all that different. True, the performances themselves are unfamiliar, but the musical approaches are not: usually accompanied by her husband, guitarist Dave Barbour, and either a small jazz band or a string-filled orchestra, she either waxes romantic on ballads or playful on uptempo numbers. The singer who had hit with the Latin rhythms and mock-Mexican accent on the novelty "Mañana" tries for the same effect on such songs as "Ay Ay Chug a Chug" and "It Never Happen' to Me." There are songs from contemporary Broadway shows such as Cole Porter's Out of This World ("Climb Up the Mountain") and Jule Styne's Two on the Aisle ("So Far, So Good"). Lee is joined by such complementary partners as the Benny Goodman Sextet ("Keep Me in Mind") ...
| | Jimmy Wakely 1942-1952 CD (2009) Import
Desert Spa music CDs
$8.79 One of the last singing cowboys in the movies, Jimmy Wakely, who was mentored at one time by Gene Autry, managed a pretty decent country and pop crossover career as a recording artist after the movie work dried up, becoming known as the Bing Crosby (there was even a slight resemblance) of country music and charting hits like "One Has My Name (The Other Has My Heart)" and a version of Floyd Tillman's "I Love You So Much It Hurts" on his own and a series of striking hit duets with the effervescent Margaret Whiting, including "Slippin' Around" and "When You and I Were Young, Maggie." All of these hits and more are included in this generous 28-track survey ...
