CATSPLAY: Shot in 1974, Karoly Makk's CATSPLAY picked up an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film. The story is a touching tale that follows two sisters as they take a retrospective look at their lives, wondering how things would have turned out if either of them had found true love. Makk builds up an impressively emotional study of the two sisters' lives, showing how they've never given up in their quest to marry. Makk tackled similar themes in his 1971 feature, LOVE; like its predecessor, CATSPLAY is a well-observed treatise on the subjects of romance and regret.
