| | M O P St. Marxmen CD M O P Discography of CDs
"Why did M.O.P. sign a deal with Roc-A-Fella?" is some food for thought from a Freddie Foxxx freestyle. For worse or better, M.O.P.'s Roc-A-Fella deal went sour before a full studio album came into fruition. And while their 2005 effort, THE ST. MARXMEN, features a number of more radio-friendly studio cuts and collaborations from their short-lived tenure with Jay-Z's label, longtime fans will be pleased to hear that the album is, on the whole, the same rowdy, "banned from TV" sound that has been the Brownville duo's signature since "How About Some Hardcore." Of particular note is "Put It in the Air," on which Fizzy Womack and Lil Fame deliver some of their most ferocious verses in years over a pounding, Run DMC-esque boom-bap beat. | | Dr Dre Dr. Dre 2001 CD (1999)
St. Marxmen
$10.49 "Guilty Conscience" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance By Duo Or Group.
"Forgot About Dre" won the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group. DR. DRE 2001 was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. "The Next Episode" was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.
"Still D.R.E." was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group.
With 2001, Dr. Dre has managed to do the seemingly impossible: resurface yet again after a five-year disappearance from the rap game, and shatter all expectations. The first two tracks lull the listener into thinking this is going to be a mellow, G-funk outing, but when the piano loop and beat commence in "Still D.R.E.," it's obvious Dre is still light years ahead of the rest. The seemingly disparate styles of guest artists MC Ren, Snoop Dogg, and Eminem are all unified by Dre's singular musical vision.
What makes this record stand out from any other gangsta rap recording before it, however, are the flashes of brutal honesty that pepper the lyrics ("What's the Difference"). Something about Dre's persona ...
| | Earth, Wind, And Fire Greatest Hits CD (1998)
St. Marxmen
$9.45 Additional personnel includes: The Emotions, The Phoenix Horns.
Recorded between 1973 and 1981. Includes liner notes by Mark Coleman.
Columbia's 1998 collection of Earth, Wind & Fire's Greatest Hits in many ways stands as the group's definitive compilation. Even though there have been more extensive overviews of the group's work, such as the triple-disc set The Eternal Dance, this is the first collection to contain all of the group's biggest hits on one disc. All but one ("Love Music") of the ten songs from 1978's The Best of Earth, Wind & Fire are included, while six of the ten songs from The Best Of, Vol. 2 are featured; the remaining two cuts on the 17-track collection are the minor early single "Kalimba Story" and the album cut "Gratitude." These are fine additions to the album, but the true meat of the collection lies in the hits -- "Shining Star," ...

| | Oren Rosenthal I'm Gonna Sing With Oren CD (2007)
St. Marxmen
$15.19 Oren Rosenthal has been teaching music, and leading music groups for the last twenty years. He is a music therapist, teacher, and performer who plays many instruments, including guitar, fiddle, accordion, and piano. "These songs are all ones I have used successfully in my music groups over the years; with children with and children without disabilities. The kids have chosen them for me. They play them over and over again at home, and want to do them time after time in groups, so I know there's something there." "The songs are simple and I do them simply; just me and my guitar. (and an accordion on one piece) Some are traditional songs that have survived because they are so good. A few are from great children's performers like Ella Jenkins and Raffi. And I even made up a few, which reflect my background growing up in Chicago, listening to blues, folk, Motown and even the Jefferson Airplane." When Oren started doing music groups, twenty years ago, he was surprised at the reactions he got. "I was just playing music and singing songs that I liked," he said, "and I was amazed at the response the music got. In nursing homes I saw people afflicted with Alzheimer's, huddled in their wheelchairs, lift their heads and start singing. I saw autistic children come out of their own worlds and move towards the group, and, eventually, participate. I saw parents who considered themselves unmusical begin singing and clapping along with kids and using the songs in their own ways to help them in their daily relationships ...
