Throw Down Your Arms songs Product Information
Throw Down Your Arms album for sale by Sinead O'Connor was released Oct 04, 2005 on the Adrenaline label. Although it's tough to say whether this or Willie Nelson's COUNTRYMAN was 2005's most unexpected reggae album, THROW DOWN YOUR ARMS proved to be a remarkably simpatico collaboration between vocalist Sinead O'Connor and legendary producers/sidemen Sly & Robbie. Given her notoriously outspoken persona and hatred of injustice, it's oddly fitting that O'Connor applies her distinctive Irish lilt to a strong set of socially conscious roots-reggae classics. Throw Down Your Arms CD music contains a single disc with 12 songs. ...See Full Description

||LOVE this album!!!|
I've NEVER owned a CD by Sinead O'Connor, but I heard "Lay Down Your Arms" on an internet radio station, and HAD to check out the disc, as much of a reggae fan as I am. I LOVE IT!!! I can NOT stop listening to it! Ironically, and what makes it so cool, is that I know all the words to the songs! (I've seen Burning Spear twice, and know his (Winston Rodney's) songs no matter who sings them!). This is the FIRST disc I've ever owned that does cover songs that I actually like...or love! I usually never like hearing other artists butcher someone else's songs, but Sinead ENHANCES them! She has a BEAUTIFUL voice!!!! I've got to admit, I've never been a fan of hers, but if is the way she sings, I'm suddenly an instant fan! I tell all my friends about this CD, and I will keep listening to it over and over, night after night. This is one of my favorite Reggae CD's I've owned in many years! I hate to admit it, but I actually like it a bit more than my former favorite artist, MIDNITE. Yep, Sinead O'Connor has instantly gained a new fan! Even if you are not a Sinead O'Connor fan, if you like reggae, you will LOVE this CD!!!

I should first say I love Sinead, and that I love this album. I also realize that it's a bit of a head twister to hear an Irish woman sing Reggae songs, and she certainly isn't one to affect a fake Jamaican accent. She puts her heart into every song, as usual, and the packaging and liner notes indicate that this was a more personal effort than many of her albums. It's a fun listen, with clean, well-rounded acoustic sound. But obviously not your average Reggae disk. Recommended for all Sinead fans, and definitely not as an introduction to Reggae music.

||What a beautiful singer!|
What a beautiful singer is Sinead...whatever she does, rock, pop, dance and ultimately raggae, she's intense and believable. The songs are real classics and easy, the production (the great duo Sly and Robbie)is first rate, I love it!

I, too, cannot stop listening to SOC's Throw Down Your Arms CD. Heard Downpressor Man online on WFUV. Floored. Bought it. I have her first two CDs: "The Lion and the Cobra" and "I do not want what I haven't got." Get them. You will be amazed.
