This deluxe edition includes a DVD of the film of one of the most exciting concert tours ever, defining the spirit of a generation. Special guests include Leon Russell and Rita Coolidge. The CD was recorded at the Fillmore East during the first week on the road, with a couple of added tracks from a later show at Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, capturing all the excitement and exhilaration of the tour, before the bad vibes seeped in. Included are 8 previously unreleased live performances, sequencing of the actual show's set lists, and 4 rare studio recording. Other performers include Claudia Lennear, Don Preston, and The Shelter People. The gravel-voiced English soul and rock singer Joe Cocker has enjoyed an extremely long (over three decades) and productive career. MAD DOGS AND ENGLISHMEN, which is named after one of his most famous tunes, is one of the most dramatic visual records of a tour which also captures the spirit of the classic rock generation. It includes backstage footage, fan interviews and electric performances. Leon Russell, Rita Coolidge and other friends also perform. Joe Cocker - Mad Dogs And Englishmen Reviews: "MAD DOGS...still stands as a unique moment in rock history: a snapshot of an enterprise so gloriously naïve and crazily over-the-top it could never possibly be repeated."
-- Nigel Williamson, Uncut 3 stars out of 5 -- "Blues-rocker Cocker is mesmeric on-stage..."

Joe Cocker - Mad Dogs And Englishmen Movie Review Average Rating: (3.3 out of 5 stars) Space Captian Fantastic!!!! This is not a great movie, but instead a nice documentary of one of the greatest tours of all time. Alot of people from different backgrounds cramed into an airplane, on busses, and in small dressing rooms, making some of the coolest rock and roll ever. There's also alot of hippie stuff going on. People holding hands in circles, smokin' weed, and preaching about peace. The only drawback I found in this release was that this movie was made for the big screen. Some of the split screen technique used back then, in order to capture more than one scene at a time, may look very small on an average size T.V. screen. The remastered soundtrack sounds good and the film is not in that bad of shape. Overall, its a wonderful journey with some of the best musicians on the planet. Good price too! great old rock and roll feeling I saw it eight times on the big screen at that time, and this is still my personal record.
It may look a little vintage nowadays but the sound is still great! Submitted by federica.zampini (Rome, Italy) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

$22.75 Very few Led Zeppelin performances were caught on camera during the band's life-span, but the footage that has been preserved for posterity is collected on this release. With a running time of over five-and-a-half hours, this is the definitive word on Zep's global stage-straddling performances. The footage is taken from London's Royal ...

Joe Cocker - Mad Dogs And Englishmen DVD
$10.55 It was a great day for rock fans when, on June 7, 1969, the supergroup Blind Faith played their debut concert in London's Hyde Park, before an audience of 100,000 eager fans. The group consisted of Eric Clapton on guitar, vocalist and keyboardist Steve Winwood, bassist ...

Joe Cocker - Mad Dogs And Englishmen movie DVD
$14.55 In the summer of 1970, a rock festival travelled across Canada by luxury train, stopping in Toronto, Calgary, and Winnipeg. Lured by the promise of a mobile party, Janis Joplin, the Grateful Dead, The Band, Buddy Guy, The Flying Burrito Brothers, and Ian & Sylvia signed on to the tour for a fraction of their usual fees. The performances and the stars' antics on the train were both filmed, only to be locked away for 25 years. The colorful and thrilling results, seen here for the first time, capture these artists at their loosest and most natural. Fans of Joplin and the Dead will find reason to rejoice in the playful footage of these icons enjoying each other's company on the train, as well as their blistering stage performances. The events are also put into context through new interviews with the surviving musicians, including Buddy Guy, the Grateful Dead's Bob Weir, and Mickey Hart, who speak frankly and humorously about the tour. Once buried in reputation by the era's other historic ...

Joe Cocker - Mad Dogs And Englishmen video
$20.85 Cream's set of reunion shows in May 2005 was a justly hot ticket. The legendary rock trio of Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce, and Eric Clapton--two jazz musicians and a blues guitarist--was one of the most influential bands of the 1960s, even though they played together for less than three years. They brought their psychedelic fusion of blues and pop into the mainstream with albums like FRESH CREAM and WHEELS OF FIRE; Clapton, long regarded as one of the greatest guitarists of all time, did some of his best work on those albums. London's Royal Albert Hall, the site of what was supposed to be Cream's final performance back in 1968, was also the venue for their reunion show. Sounding as if they'd been on vacation for a few ...

$19.59 Ultradiscs are mastered from the original master tapes using Mobile Fidelity's proprietary mastering technique, then plated with 24 karat gold and housed in a stress-resistant lift-lock jewel box. Previously released as a 2-CD set.
Recorded live at The Fillmore East, New York, New York on March 27 & 28, 1970. Includes liner notes by John Mendelsohn.
One of the first classic post-Woodstock albums, MAD DOGS AND ENGLISHMEN was recorded at precisely the moment that Cocker and his bandleader Leon Russell found themselves, however briefly, at the epicenter of the rock & roll universe. The big hits here--the juiced-up version of Traffic's "Feelin' Alright," the Memphis soul revamp of the Box Tops "The Letter"--have been ubiquitous for years, and remain as potent as ever.
Some of the less familiar tracks are equally rewarding though, particularly the Cocker/Russell duet on Dylan's "Girl From the ...
