RE: incomplete letdown
Festival! film I first saw excerpts of this film in Scorsese's documentary on Dylan, so I was intrigued. Festival! review What a disappointment! If this were a 3 or 4 dvd set, of the 'entire' performances listed above, it would be a treasure. Festival! DVD for sale What we get however, are 30 seconds of judy collins, 30 seconds of fred mcdowell, 30 seconds of john hurt, with audience interviews and comments spliced in. Festival! movie The black & white photography is very good, focusing mainly on extreme close-ups of the artists. The sound is very good as well. It's a shame, we only get a small taste of the performances. There are some historic events here, such as Dylan plugging in with the Butterfield Blues Band... If full length performances were available from this film, sans the interviews and commentaries, I'd buy it in a heartbeat, no matter how many discs it took up. But these abbreviated performances on this dvd, will only disappoint.

FESTIVAL! Too much Dylan amd Baez One sided
Festival! video I was quite frankly disappointed by the inbalance of footage in favour of Bob Dylan and Joan Baez. Festival! film The director seems to have been i9n love with the fair Joan. Festival! review There is very little footage of Pete Seeger and what there is shows him up in a very bad light performance wise. There is better footage of other artists in the Scorsese NO DIRECTION HOME which is ironic. As an owner of the original records of the NEWPORT Festival I was most surprised by the bad choice of material and edited performances. What I don't understand at all is why some of the best footage was included from the film in NO DIRECTION HOME and omitted here. I demand a BONUS DISC of footage from the film to be issued to us!!

Festival! DVD for sale It is very good, but I would prefer, if it would have more music.
