| | Frankie J One CD Frankie J Discography of CDs
(4 Customer Reviews)
This is a DualDisc, which contains a CD on one side of the disc and a DVD on the other.
For Frankie J's 2005 album, THE ONE, the Mexican-born crooner offers up an impressive collection of songs helmed by a noteworthy array of producers, including Mario Winans and Irv Gotti. And while these established music-makers could have turned out an Usher clone, the man born Francisco Javier Bautista maintained enough creative control to craft more of a sensitive, balladeer persona for himself. The singer's style is exemplified by the lush "Story of My Life," with acoustic-guitar accompaniment and a pleading tone that's more yearning than desperate. Throughout THE ONE, however, J's Latin roots are never far away, as he croons Spanish couplets amid the snappy beats of the R&B-flavored remake of Aventura's bachata hit "Obsession (No Es Amor)," which features rapper Baby Bash. J's falsetto rings convincingly on the Winans-produced Jodeci-like jam "Can't Say It's Love" and the title track, with its perfect blend of clavinet, strings, and backing vocals. Even when the vibe gets a bit rougher, as with "On the Floor," Frankie J holds his own. As a bonus, THE ONE tacks on extra cuts, including an all-Spanish reading of "Obsession (No Es Amor)."

One Music Review Average Rating: (3.8 out of 5 stars) What An Album This Album reminds me of my time in Florida in May 2005 when 3 of his songs were being blazed on POWER 95.3 - "How To DEAL", "OBSESSION" and "SUGA SUGA". I will always play these tunes purely to remember the good times. Submitted by julie.roth (Manchester, England) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Unfinished Business I just dont understand this... this guy has potential, right? I mean, he got the voice and all... but if you cant fill an album with 15 quality songs, than just dont drop one! What we got here? 2 coversongs (+2 other versions of that coversong), 1 song is not even his, but was already on Baby BAsh's album a few years ago... you call this an album?? I dont.. its a shame. And since Frankie's making fun of his 'fans', go download this album 'stead of buyin it... cuz it surely aint worth tha money. Submitted by Koubi (Sac-town) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Purchase One CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Christina Aguilera Stripped CD (2002)
One album
$11.55 Although STRIPPED is supposed to refer to Christina Aguilera's emotional rather than physical state, you couldn't tell based on her topless pose on the album cover, where the only nod to discretion is some strategically placed hair. Like Britney before her, Christina yearned to get away from her wholesome pop image. In the process, she hooked up with a wide range of collaborators including hip-hop producers Rockwilder and Scott Storch along with a myriad of guest musicians including Eve, Linda Perry, and Dave Navarro. Despite all the glitter and glam, there's no getting away from the fact that Aguilera's singing ability puts her head and shoulders above her poppy peers. Her rich, throaty style works well on slower numbers like a soaring Alicia Keys collaboration "Impossible," piano-driven nugget "Soar," and the Mariah-like "The Voice Within."
Other highlights include the snappy, Lil' Kim hip-hop workout "Can't Hold Us Down," sweeping self-empowering rant "Make Over," and the ribald, jeep-beat crazy joint "Dirrty" featuring Redman. Most revealing (on an emotional level) is "I'm OK," an acoustic guitar-heavy autobiographical remembrance of childhood abuse. Britney Spears may not be quite a woman or a girl, but the newly minted Christina ...
| | John Mayer Heavier Things CD (2003)
One CD music
$9.59 With the experience of a Grammy-winning, major-label debut under his belt and the requisite pop stardom that goes with it, John Mayer continues forging a steadily impressive musical canon with his third full-length outing, HEAVIER THINGS. Like the introspective musings of fellow, mellow pop singer-songwriters such as Dave Matthews and Jack Johnson, Mayer's songs delve into the subtleties of relationships and their accompanying navel-gazing. "Bigger Than My Body" finds him not only on a search for self, but sounding like Matthews with his hint of falsetto, as "Something's Missing" does much the same on a bed of swirling guitar and the occasionally chiming chord. As for the fairer sex, there's the requisite pleading found within the confines of the bluesy "Come Back to Bed," and the realization of loving someone with emotional baggage in "Daughters," which stems from childhood issues. All is not entirely dour, however, as this former Berkley School of Music student includes a pair of more up-tempo cuts--"Clarity," the hip-hop-brushed opener featuring jazz great Roy Hargrove ...

One music CDs
$10.45 THE EMINEM SHOW was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Award for Album Of The
Year. "Without Me" was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Awards for Record Of The Year and Best Male Rap Solo Performance.
This deluxe limited edition includes a bonus DVD containing previously unreleased footage and interview with Eminem.
As one of the most controversial figures in hip-hop history, Eminem can be forgiven for being somewhat self-obsessed. THE EMINEM SHOW's opening cut "White America" sums up the notorious rapper's self-defense by keenly observing that while the color of his skin has something to do with his widespread popularity it's also the reason his lyrics are examined so scrupulously by critics who otherwise wouldn't bother. "I could be one of your kids" he proclaims, getting right to the heart of the matter. Despite the abundance of introspection, Eminem doesn't back up a single step on any of the themes that made him such a hot property. He's still into glorifying violence, as on "Soldier" one of the many cuts where he waves his broken-home/dysfunctional upbringing like a flag to justify the hatred that seeps from every pore of THE EMINEM SHOW.
Over the course of the album, he threatens to brutally murder so many members of his family that one begins to lose track, but this is just the kind of hard-ass image that's helped make him an icon. The aforementioned cut finds the former Marshall Mathers making one of his most telling statements; "I'll never be ...
