This film is about the 4 superheroes.

In this thrill-filled live-action Marvel Comics adaptation, director Tim Story (BARBERSHOP) balances comedy, romantic intrigue, special effects, high action, and even scientific trivia for a rounded FANTASTIC FOUR. Here, Mister Fantastic (Ioan Gruffudd), Invisible Woman (Jessica Alba), The Human Torch (Chris Evans), and The Thing (Michael Chiklis) come together on a space mission that goes wrong. The ship's owner (Julian McMahon)--who later transforms into evil Doctor Doom--refuses to abort the mission during a solar storm, which electrifies the ship and its entire crew, causing radical changes to their DNA. Back on earth, the transformed "heroes" adjust to their new powers, which are specific to their personalities. Mister Fantastic, who lacks assertion, has stretchy limbs of rubber. Invisible Woman, who loves Fantastic but thinks he can't see her for who she really is, does a disappearing act. The Human Torch, an immature guy who is brimming with energy, can burst into flames. And finally, The Thing, a great friend who is as solid as a rock, actually turns into one--and loses his wife due to his weighty disposition. Holing up in Fantastic's scientific lab where they run experiments on themselves in hopes of changing back to normal, the crew learns that Doctor Doom--who is so power hungry that he turns into metal and is able to conduct electrical currents--poses a serious threat. The heroes quickly master their abilities and channel their scientific smarts for one truly fantastic five-way face-off. Visually, action sequences give way to tranquil interludes such as the New York City skyline with the Fantastics' lab glowing atop a skyscraper, while plot-wise, the interplay between the characters brings a human element to the film, with some touching moments from The Thing. At the end, a door is left open for what could be a super sequel.

4 stars give credit where credit is due
I have always been a diehard comic book movie fan. I loved the superman and batman movies and within the past five years the marvel superhero movies. spiderman , x-men , daredevil and the hulk. Marvel has pretty much hit it on the head with their movie versions of their characters. and they have done it again with fantastic four. many critics have been hard on this movie somewhat. But i'll tell ya people it's not that bad. it's kinda like the first x-men movie. it's seting you up for future sequels. fantastic four 2 will be coming out in 2007 along with spiderman 3. all the actors were good. In my opinion nobody really outshined anybody else. they were all pretty even. Only certain movies get 5 stars like batman begins and superman 2. fantastic four comes close but i feel the second one will be a 5 star. so give credit where credit is due fantastic four is a fantastic movie and worth being in anybodys dvd collection.

3 stars i am a die hard fantastic 4 fan! needs more work!
you are talking about a marvel comic magazine when i was little. my friends and i were the fantastic 4, spiderman, x-men,avengers, thor! i feel as a die hard marvel comic book fan i deserve the right to get pretty lengthy on this review. never got into star trek but i can see the way people get carried away! okay my friends and i could'nt wait till the new comic books came out! but my all time fave was the fantastic 4 and x-men! glad to say the x-men and spiderman movies lived up to my expectations! cyclops was always my favorite and james marsden is excellent. he is cyclops; i went in watching fantastic 4 sorta well let's see what they did. this movie was not made for the fans! the actor playing reed is great, the thing is great, johnny storm is great! sorry but jessica alba is awful! too young, too much of a barbie doll! the sue storm i admired would have a fit to know they cast jessica alba! just like regular movies today put older actors with hot new actresses. looks to me this is what who ever did this movie did. the reason jean grey works so good in x-men is because the actress is older, a great actress and still beautiful! too bad fantastic 4 sold out to the MTV generation of she looks good-- that's all that matters! sorry guys but with the sound track this whole movie was just a big marketing let's make alot of money! too bad it did'nt! i'll give it a 3 for special effects, reed richards, dr. doom, johnny storm! sue storm ruined this whole movie. i wonder if the actress ever even read a copy of the fantastic four! sorry but i tried but when i saw different art work on the DVD box where jessica alba is front and bigger i knew it was gonna be a let down! if they do a sequel- let's do a super action movie. and not some sleeping beauty sue storm movie! soory but they messed up big time. yeah i bought it but this guys need to start all over and make this like x-men and spiderman. sorry but it had a lot to live up to and for me it failed. they'd make more money if they would have not sold out to be a MTV video!

Fantastic Four film
DVD $9.69  4.9 stars
The sequel to cult sci-fi hit PITCH BLACK sees Vin Diesel enthusiastically returning to his role as Richard B. Riddick. Director-writer David Twohy is on board again, building on themes established in the first movie, and expanding his vision with some incredible special effects work. Twohy opens the movie with Riddick on the run from a group of bounty hunters. He escapes them with ease, then seeks information from an old friend named Inam (Keith David). Inam informs Riddick that he has been singled out by an Air Elemental, Aereon (Judi Dench), as the one man who can stop the evil Necromongers from taking over the Universe. Suddenly, the Necromongers arrive on the planet, causing mayhem and destruction. They capture ...

Sam Raimi's follow-up to SPIDER-MAN finds Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) struggling to balance his everyday life with his alter ego as the web-slinging superhero. Still carrying the burden of keeping his crime-fighting identity from those closest to him--including his longtime love Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst), his best friend Harry Osborn (James Franco), and his doting Aunt May (Rosemary Harris)--Parker must also face off against a dangerous new menace, Dr. Otto Octavius (Alfred Molina), a scientist driven mad by experiments involving powerful mechanical arms. When the deranged Octavius (AKA Doc Ock) forms an alliance with the vengeful Osborn, who blames Spider-Man for the death of his father, the wall-crawling hero is in for his biggest battle yet. With SPIDER-MAN 2, Raimi retains--and improves on--all of the elements that made the first film so good, including an excellent story (crafted, in part, by acclaimed novelist Michael Chabon), tight pacing, and stunning special effects. Parker's internal conflicts are even greater than before, and Maguire adds emotional depth to every scene. Returning actors Dunst, Franco, Harris, and J.K. Simmons (once again portraying Parker's tough-talking boss, J. Jonah Jameson) are all pitch-perfect in their roles, and, as the once-noble Octavius, Molina is remarkable, relishing his villainous lines, while giving the character a surprisingly vulnerable side. Throughout the movie, Raimi expertly balances drama and humor with dynamic action sequences, making SPIDER-MAN 2 feel more like a continuation of the original tale rather than an obligatory sequel. For a Hollywood movie, that's a real feat. The Spider-Man 2 Special Edition DVD features the following:

Disc One
  • Commentary with director Sam Raimi, Tobey Maguire, producer Avi Arad and co-producer Grant Curtis
  • Technical Commentary
  • Blooper Reel
  • Spidey Sense 2 Trivia track with "pop-up" facts and trivia about the film and the worl

Adapted from Frank Miller's graphic novels, SIN CITY is Robert Rodriguez's striking film noir infused with fantasy, taking place in a world where it is eternally nighttime and everything is drenched in rain and violence. Using a unique combination of silvery black and white digital photography with occasional flashes of bright color for dazzling punctuation, Rodriguez employs green screen techniques and paints a backdrop around each scene, using Miller's co-direction as his cue to match the original setting as closely as possible. Three stories weave together, occasionally overlapping. With lines delivered flatly in the hard-boiled style of Raymond Chandler, these tales are about crime, love, loss, and being preternaturally tough. In the most caustically dramatic segment, Mickey Rourke plays the fearlessly lovestruck Marv, a trenchcoat-clad beast who falls in love with prostitute Goldie (Jaime King) only to find her murdered ...

The Force is with us in EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH, the final chapter of the six-part STAR WARS series, which began a long time ago (1977) in a galaxy far, far away... and is now complete in its cyclical perfection. This visually awe-striking kaleidoscope of interplanetary imagination features the unmatched digital animation and special effects of George Lucas's Industrial Light and Magic. With pink and orange skies casting a golden sheen over magnificent landscapes through which space ships dart and light sabers flash, the spectacle of the film, while hypnotizing, is but a complement to the intense, crucial plot. Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) remains the Jedi apprentice of master Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor). Battling dark forces that threaten the Republic, the duo quickly eliminates enemy Count Dooku (Christopher Lee), and Anakin proves--as he states more than once--that his powers have doubled. An intimidating warrior with superior knowledge of the Force, Anakin becomes the pet of Chancellor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid), ...

Named after a 1941 Alfred Hitchcock film, MR. AND MRS. SMITH is really its own ball of flaming wax, with enough sizzling chemistry between stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt to blow up a small building. He shows he is equally adept in comedy and action, and she manages to set new screen standards of bad-ass sexiness. It's impossible to dislike this pair, or a movie that makes being married seem like such insane fun. Pitt and Jolie play extremely skilled professional assassins who have managed to stay married for five years without ever realizing each other's profession because they work for rival agencies and the work is top secret. When their paths eventually cross on a high-level hit, one of the most lethal battles of the sexes in the history of cinema is officially on. Thanks to a genuinely witty script, the issue isn't who will win, but whether the couple will realize they are ...

One cannot help but think of terrorist attacks while watching Stephen Spielberg's update of the classic sci-fi fantasy THE WAR OF THE WORLDS. While the H.G. Wells story dates back to 1898, and has inspired previous adaptations, this particular version feeds off its 21st century audience's fear of a terrorist-induced apocalypse. Even if the sight of tall buildings crumbling to the ground and crowds running fearfully away from their demise doesn't trigger post-9/11 paranoia, dialogue such as "Is it the terrorists?" will. Disgruntled, divorced father Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise) is struggling to connect with his estranged kids, who have been dropped off by their mother for the weekend, when a severe and unusual lightning storm leaves his New Jersey neighborhood powerless. Over the course of the next few hours, it becomes obvious that this was not a storm at all, ...
