This release of 20 songs by such famous acts as Radiohead, Bloc Party, Gorillaz, and Keane, was recorded as a benefit to children in war torn areas of the world.
In 1994, Brit-pop heavyweights like Blur, Oasis, and Suede contributed to a charity album that raised millions of dollars for children affected by the war in Bosnia. In 2005 the War Child organization has once again tapped the country's contemporary music scene, this to support battle-scarred and otherwise damaged children everywhere. Participants in Help: A Day in the Life include Radiohead (the haunting, previously unreleased "I Want None of It"), Coldplay (a remixed "How You See the World"), and Damien Rice (the typically lovely "Cross-Eyed Bear"), as well as Sudanese MC and former child soldier conscript Emmanuel Jal, who contributes the exuberant, hopeful "Gua." Great Britain's bright young breed is also represented in Maximo Park's "Wasteland," "Gone Are the Days" from Magic Numbers, and Go! Team's "Phantom Broadcast." Elsewhere on Help: A Day in the Life -- Keane drifting through a thorny "Yellow Brick Road," Kaiser Chiefs putting some weird herky-jerky spunk into "Heard It Through the Grapevine," and Bloc Party with "The Present." ~ Johnny Loftus
This is the follow up to 2000's War Child charity album. All of the 22-tracks are exclusive and previously unreleased. Highlights include, a new version of 'How You See the World' by Coldplay. The track had been previously available in Japan (as an exclusive bonus track on X & Y), but the band remixed it in September 2005 to create a new version with different lyrics for this release. Babyshambles were also a last-minute addition to the line-up of 'Help: A Day In The Life' and have contributed, 'Bollywood To Battersea'. Other hightlights include; Radiohead `I Want None of It', Antony and the Johnsons `Happy Xmas (War is Over)', Belle & Sebastian `The Eighth Station of the Cross Kebab House', The Go! Team `Phantom Broadcast', Keane and Faultline `Goodbye Yellow Brick Road', Bloc Party `The Present' and many more! Independiente.

Help: A Day In The Life CD music
$16.45 Although generally not as highly regarded by the critics as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, or the Who, the Kinks may well have influenced far more musicians. The three-chord sledgehammer proto-metal burst of teenage lust called "You Really Got Me," the Kinks' third single and first hit, touched off a garage band explosion, which in turn influenced the rise of punk a decade later. Blessed with an astute songwriter in Ray Davies, the Kinks followed the template of "You Really Got Me" for a couple years, racking up hits with "All Day and All of the Night," "Tired of Waiting for You," and "Till the End of the Day." But Davies had more ...

Help: A Day In The Life songs
$14.65 David Grisman's first love was bluegrass, and though most of his recordings have fallen into his nebulous jazz-leaning "Dawg music" non-category, Grisman has on occasion returned to bluegrass, always with exceptional results. | | Chris Farlowe Hotel Eingang CD (2008) (Import) Germany
Help: A Day In The Life album
$13.75 Veteran British soul man Chris Farlowe, who turned 68 shortly before the release of this album, his first new studio recording in five years, is more than four decades removed from his brief period as a U.K. pop star in the mid-'60s, and he has long since reverted to the bluesy style he had used before then, back in the days of Chris Farlowe & the Thunderbirds, before "Out of Time" gave him his only chart-topper. On Hotel Eingang, he leads an effective guitar/organ/bass/drums quartet, with some occasional horns, background vocals, and a harmonica joining in. The songs either sound like old electric blues and R&B numbers or really are. "It Should've Been Me," which was a Top Five R&B hit for Ray Charles in 1954 but could've been one for the Coasters, gets a workout, for instance. On the other hand, "I've Got Your Love" comes from the pen of Boz Scaggs, who is closer to Farlowe's age, and dates from only 1997, while "Fog on the Highway" is an original by the band's guitarist, Miller Anderson, and is a statement of purpose for ...
