Movie score by Peter Naschel and features an exclusive new track 'I'll Be Near You' performed by Ivy. Nettwerk. 2005.
Composer: Peter Naschel. Personnel: Larry Saltzman (acoustic guitar, tiple); Inbal Segev (cello); Joe Bonadio (percussion). Audio Mixers: Joel Iwataki; Pete Min. Recording information: Bastyr University; Right Track Recording; Manhattan Cen. While the film adaptation of Myla Goldberg's 2000 novel BEE SEASON sacrifices some of the humor, detail, and idiosyncrasy of the book, it strives to capture the novel's mystical and metaphysical themes. The soundtrack, comprised mainly of Peter Nashel's nicely balanced orchestral score, floats, glitters, and swells, lending an appropriate musical counterpart to the film's scenes of personal/psychological exploration. An excerpt from Bach, and "I'll Be Near You" by Ivy (an ambient, trip-hop-inspired slice of pop ephemera), add variety to this strong, serviceable piece of film music.

Photographer: Gerry Goodstein. Used to be, in the world of stage musicals, there were hits and flops. Hits were shows that opened on Broadway and ran long enough to turn a profit; flops were everything else. But that was back in the days when there were a lot of Broadway shows, they didn't cost as much money to produce, and money was easier to raise. Today, things are much more complicated: Shows don't even have to open on Broadway to be successful. The greater ...

Photographer: Vincent Soyez. New Orleans-born, California-bred singer Ledisi released a couple of indie albums leading up to her big-label debut with LOST & FOUND, and the latter is where the world at large meets a talent both highly individual and slyly syncretic. While Ledisi is ostensibly a modern R&B singer, whose tunes bear touches of hip-hop in their production, her background in everything from showtunes to symphony halls peeks through. The jazzy inflections, show-stopping delivery, and old-school soul that catch you by surprise are part and parcel of what makes LOST & FOUND stand out among the contemporary R&B pack. In this new millennium music era, R&B stars are a dime a dozen, where thousands of great singers struggle for a piece of the fame pie. Ledisi, a New Orleans soul singer who has long struggled for fame, proves on her album Lost & Found that she deserves more than just a sliver. Lost & Found is a rare gem from 2007, a complex vocal masterpiece that shimmers and tantalizes with smooth beats, impressive songs, great mixes, and one ...
