The U.S. debut solo album by Frou Frou vocalist Imogen Heap is a captivating record that fuses innovative electronic soundscapes with a strong female voice. If "Goodnight and Go" -- a lilting, pulsating, and hit-ready concoction -- and the alluring, synthesized pop of "Hide and Seek" are the most direct numbers, experimental numbers like the ethereal "Have You Got It in You?" plus the rhythm-fueled "Headlock" and "Loose Ends" suggest Heap has written and produced the finest electro/alt rock CD of 2005. By the time the eclectic, innovative "Closing In" arrives late in the cycle of Speak for Yourself, there's little denying it.~ John D. Luerssen Although it took Imogen Heap seven years to follow up her solo debut with 2005's SPEAK FOR YOURSELF, the British vocalist was far from idle during the interim, having formed Frou Frou with producer Guy Sigsworth (Bjork, Seal). While her second album mines a vein similar to Frou Frou's electronica/pop hybrid, it also carries a more sweeping and dynamic singer/songwriter aesthetic. The disc's most notable track is "Hide and Seek," a nearly a cappella tune that was prominently featured on the popular teen drama THE O.C., and presents Heap's bold-yet-breathy vocals lounging on a bed of electronic effects. Other highlights include the glitchy, chiming "Goodnight and Go" and the urgent "Clear the Area," both of which exemplify this assured and intriguing record.Entertainment Weekly (No. 849, p.73) - "...Heap nails the whole adult-contemporary pretty-pixie thing like a pro...." - Grade: B+ Imogen Heap Speak For Yourself Songs Speak For Yourself Music Review Average Rating: (4.6 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Definitely Sent From Above! Imogen's second solo album is amazing! Every song written by her, that includes music and lyrics and produced by her. Each song has its own personality. No two songs are alike.
-Headlock-Freaking amazing song! If you don't like it, then go get your hearing checked!
-Goodnight and Go-Amazing with different instruments and lyrics. Takes you on a journey.
-Have You Got It In You-Unlike anything I've ever heard. She'll say, "Have you got it in you?" In her dreamy voice, then there's this blast of drums and guitars that slowly turns up the volume. Amazing!
-Loose Ends-Got a poppy sound to. Amazing use of instruments. Just listen, at the end she'll scream, "LIAR!" and it almost blends in with the music! It gives me the chills!
-Hide and Seek-May not have a lot of instruments, but her use of synthesizers is incredible!
-Clear the Area-Starts off with a strong wind sound and goes into dreamland. Amazing song!
-Daylight Robbery-Amazing song! Her instruments and use of her voice just blows me away! Amazing!
-The Walk-One of the best songs on the album in my opinion. Use of every instrument is amazing! Her lyrics are dreamy voice are incredible! And, if you ever wanted a song that builds up to a bang...You'll love this song!
-Just For Now-A wonderful holiday song. Kind of reminds me of holiday vacation and just life. Great song!
-I Am In Love With You-Whoa! Amazing use of instruments, keeps you up and moving and yet again, her vocals are astounding!
-Closing In-Another one of my favorites. Everything about this song is amazing! It's, in my opinion, almost got a dark sound to it! Listen!
-The Moment I Said It-A great way to finish an album that has you up and rocking! More use of piano and softer, but it, yet again builds up to a wonderful climax. I listen to this song over and over...
All in all, if you love good music and want to listen to someone that has a God-given talent, buy this CD and become an Immi fan! I know I did and I am so happy about it! Submitted by Aaron (Tennessee) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
DAMN!!!! This lady is TALENTED!!!!!
This is a beautiful work of art, the songs become more and more addictive the more you play them. Takes a while to grow but it is a classic, you'll never want to stop it.
Uplifting music, full of passion.
It took me a while to get into it after her debut, which had a band instead of electronic backing music, but this one is also just as brilliant. Both very different.
There is noone like Imogen, pick this up!
Stand out tracks to preview:
Loose Ends, Headlock, Closing in.

An instant classic! From beginning to end, not a single bad track. This work of art will grab you and stick in your head for days. I have had it in my player all summer, (I got an advance copy from her website) and I have barely listened to anything else. You will not be disappointed. "Headlock", "The Walk", and "Have you got it in you" are the major stand-outs here. Submitted by T. Farris (Birmingham, AL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 0 of 1 found this helpful.

$11.69 The kind of crunk Lil Jon took to the top of the charts isn't all there is to the genre, but the way some compilers focus on it you'd think it was. Crunk Classics ain't goin' out like that. Lil Jon is here, but the collection earns respect from the tracks it surrounds the King of Crunk with. Crusty classics like Three 6 Mafia's "Tear da Club '97," UGK's "Pocket Full of Stones," and Gangsta ...

$20.25 My quest as a writer, poetic storyteller and performer seemed to always have been a vital part of who I am. I was born Beatrice Watson, in a small, mining town in Kentucky, where my father worked, a town I am sure no longer exist. We later migrated to Detroit Michigan, where my father acquired a job as an automobile factory worker, and where pen and paper along with daydreams was my constant companion. I grew up during the time when family entertainment was simple, but wholesome. Kids sitting on the floor, as Madear and daddy joined in the eating of popcorn. We listened to captivating, intriguing radio thrillers, or were entertained and enthralled with the singing and musical performances of The Hit Parade on a new and exciting medium called television. This was something the entire family looked forward to. My high school drama class gave me the opportunity to act out the fairytale fantasies, I had read about, as well as, speak out on opinions I had formed from reading and observation in the debate club. School was memorable and legends were being formed, with the likes of Martha Reeves, Mary Wilson, Florence Ballard, along with Diana Ross, who attended a neighboring school, all on the threshold of later becoming Motown divas. Even though my name is not a household word, like theirs, I keep in mind my mother's advice to me and nine siblings, “We all have a purpose, seek yours". Armed with that bit of maternal wisdom, I have concentrated my efforts in developing my skills in creative writing and performing arts. My odyssey has led me into studies of improvisational theater, under Dell Close, of Second City Workshop, Radio/Television and Creative Writing at Columbia College, Urban Studies and Method Acting at Roosevelt University. In addition to television appearances on a variety of local talk shows and programs, such as a reoccurring role on the previous, Channel 11 network series, ...
