MIGHTY WIND, Crouch's 2006 release, plants memorable melodies over the light yet solid grooves that one might hear on soft rock radio. But there is nothing soft about the gospel spirit here, thanks in part to Crouch's powerful choir and his own impassioned vocals. Naturally, the themes of MIGHTY WIND revolve around Christian praise and worship, resulting in another inspirational and beautifully produced album from Crouch.
Contemporary gospel star Andrae Crouch is widely acclaimed as a singer, composer, instrumentalist, and bandleader. Unlike a lot of CCM artists, Crouch's music has a strong tie to traditional gospel: he employs full choirs on his albums, and his compositions often swell to the divine heights of a tent revival. At the same time, Crouch's songs are strong in pop sensibility.

This CD is so ANOINTED and each lead singer was chosen perfectly for each song. My husband states, "Each song is so ANOINTED it blesses the JESUS in me" and this is why I want to hear it over and over again because of the ANOINTING upon each song, lead singer, and the background singers. The entire CD is ANOINTED, but we are not surprised coming from such an ANOINTED PSALMIST/PASTOR Brother Andrae Crouch. MaY GOD'S blessings continually be upon you. Pastor Isiah & Regina Hughes

This 1957 release features Neal Hefti's arrangements and the ever-exciting sound of what became known as the Second Testament Basie Band (the first having featured Lester Young, Herschel Evans, Dicky Wells et al). The album opens with a fiery version of "The Kid from Red Bank"; other highlights include "Whirly-Bird" and "Teddy the Toad." As usual, Count Basie's stride-inflected piano style and the brass section's sudden, sharp stabs help define the band's sound.
The COMPLETE ATOMIC BASIE isn't just about screaming high notes and blistering scale flourishes though; subtlety and dynamic variety characterize several charts. We hear this best in the reeds' lilting swing on "Midnite Blue," and in the quiet, mellow groove of "Li'l Darlin'"; the sparseness of the latter's arrangement highlights the often-neglected guitarist Freddie Green's inimitable strumming. One of Basie's finest albums, THE COMPLETE ATOMIC BASIE is a swinging gem.
