A super adventure of heroic proportions this crowd-pleasing hit from Walt Disney Pictures stars Hollywood favorites Kurt Russel and Kelly Preston The son of legendary heroes Commander (Russell) and Jetstream (Preston) young Will Stronghold carries huge expectations as he enters a high-tech high school known for molding the heroes of tomorrow. With no apparant superpowers of his own however Will seems destined to grow up a mere sidekick. But as he discovers his true strenghts he'll also learn that it takes loyalty and teamwork to truly become a hero! Runtime: 100 minutes. Rated PG. Most teenagers cringe at the thought of meeting their parents' high expectations--good grades, well-behaved friends, and a plan for the future--and none more so than Will Stronghold (Michael Angarano), the son of legendary superheroes Commander (Kurt Russell) and Jetstream (Kelly Preston). This clever Disney comedy follows Will from his first day as star student at Sky High, an elite school for the children of superheroes. The only problem is that Will apparently has no special powers, and he can't let his parents find out! Lacking the abilities needed to attend hero classes, Will falls in with the misfit sidekicks, whose only powers include turning into a guinea pig, glowing, and melting. However, when an old villain with a new power reappears on the scene, the pressure is on Will and his sidekicks to save his parents, his school, and the earth itself.
Perhaps as a tribute to the classic era of teen films, SKY HIGH features a soundtrack bursting with 1980s hits covered by contemporary artists, including Flashlight Brown, Bowling for Soup, and Vitamin C. The film also features performances that will please adult viewers, including a cameo as the school principal by former Wonder Woman Lynda Carter, comedian Dave Foley as a washed up sidekick, and EVIL DEAD star Bruce Campbell as Coach Boomer. Truly fun for all ages, the charming teen stars, fast pace, and universal story make SKY HIGH a clear family classic on par with SIXTEEN CANDLES, SPY KIDS, and NATIONAL LAMPOON'S VACATION. Original theatrical release date: July 29, 2005. Sky High Reviews: "The flick is best in its bittier moments, and there's nothing to trouble the tots."
-- Scott Brown, Entertainment Weekly "The live action and computer animation are so thoroughly interwoven that you can easily lose track of what is what."
-- Stephen Holden, New York Times "[A] family comedy with welcomely loopy asides....It's clever to take the standard 'cool' and 'nerd' high school subcultures and transform them into 'heroes' and their 'sidekicks.'"-- Mike Clark, USA Today Sky High | Studio | Buena Vista Home Entertainment | | Orig Year | 2005 | | All Time Sales Rank | 36466 | | CD Universe Part number | 6985550 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Feb 02, 2007 | | Rating | PG (MPAA) | | Rating Reason | action violence and some mild language | | Running Time | 100 Minutes | | Movie Details | Color |

$5.75 Kelsey Grammar plays a wayward Navy officer, Tom Dodge, who is notorious throughout the Navy for having responded to a close call involving a Russian submarine by getting drunk and tattooing "welcome aboard" on an unmentionable appendage. He gets assigned by Admiral Winslow (Rip Torn) to command his own submarine; unfortunately, this sub is a rusting 1958 diesel model that the Navy wants to engage in war games to find out if it could inflict any damage. The assumption is, this sub is comparable to those ...

Sky High DVD
$8.35 A landmark in film history, EASY RIDER blew the studio doors open for more young directors than any film before or since, helping to create the wide-open climate that would lead to the production of many outstanding films in the 1970s. As its director, Dennis Hopper is usually given the lion's share of credit for the film's success, but the revelations of time suggest that the contributions of the late Terry Southern and, to some degree, Jack Nicholson have endowed the film with much of its residual power.
Starring Peter Fonda as Wyatt (alias Captain America) and Hopper as Billy, it traces the hippie duo's adventures as they mount their seriously chopped hogs on a journey to find the real America en route to Mardi Gras. In Arizona, they visit a commune whose members are having a tough time, and in a small Texas town they're jailed for joining a parade. But they're quickly sprung by ...

$10.29 Dedicated to the art of street dancing, YOU GOT SERVED features some of the most talented and prominent kids on the scene in a drama filmed in the streets of Los Angeles. Elgin (Marques Houston) and David (Omarion) are childhood friends who are determined to make a splash in the world as street dancers. But when they lose a battle to a rival crew from Orange County, and when David finds himself falling in love with Elgin's pretty sister, Liyah (Jennifer Freeman), a heavy strain is put on their relationship. This is compounded when Elgin gets jacked selling drugs ...

$10.29 In the 1950s a super-secret government agency was formed to monitor and police the activities of extraterrestrial aliens on the planet Earth. Some 40 years later a founding father of the agency, Agent Kay (Tommy Lee Jones), finds himself with a new smart-mouthed partner fresh from the NYPD who is soon dubbed Agent Jay (Will Smith). Their first mission is to save the Earth from destruction by a giant insectlike alien (Vincent D'Onfrio) that, incidentally, drives an exterminator's truck. Armed with their matching Ray-Bans, skinny ties, and space-age weapons that Jay barely understands--he calls the Neuralyzer the "flashy thing"--the new duo begin another average day of fighting intergalactic terrorists. An amazingly hip and terribly clever movie that riffs on everything from E.T.--THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL to CASABLANCA, this Barry Sonnenfeld film is based on the equally savvy comic book by Lowell Cunningham.
A sci-fi adventure comedy about two top secret agents (Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones) with the everyday mission of policing alien activities on planet Earth. The Men in Black's current assignment: to stop an intergalactic terrorist from making Earth his next victim. ...
| | Little Man (2006) Widescreen; Dubbed; Subtitled
Sky High DVD
$11.55 To discuss matters of taste in the context of LITTLE MAN defeats the purpose of its mere existence--this movie revels in its own base-level humor. However, even the Wayans brothers themselves acknowledge that they are making silly movies for as broad an audience as possible. While some of the sex jokes are perhaps a little too raunchy for children, the movie is packed with sub-Looney Tunes tomfoolery, not to mention a Looney Tunes plot (remember when Bugs Bunny took in Baby-Face Finster? The Wayans brothers certainly do), making this perfect fodder for kids--or adults with a juvenile sense of humor.
Widescreen; English Soundtrack; French Soundtrack; English Subtitles; Spanish Subtitles; French Subtitles; Dolby Digital 5.1re
Despite small budgets and a lack of bona fide star power, the Wayans Brothers have proven to be one of the most commercially successful comedy teams in the Hollywood of the early 2000s. The brothers rose to fame in the 1990s via the IN LIVING COLOR sketch television show and later the gross-out satire-lite of the SCARY MOVIE series. Similar to their 2004 movie WHITE CHICKS--about two undercover black police officers posing as rich white girls--2006's LITTLE MAN is a raunchy crime caper that likewise uses a grotesque fish-out-of-water scenario as its comedic focal point. Marlon Wayans plays the diminutive and unquestionably weird-looking jewel thief who poses as a toddler in order to retrieve a diamond he hid with the childless-but-trying couple Daryl and Vanessa (played by Shawn Wayans and Kerry Washington). Hilarity ensues as the movie runs wild ...
| | Rocky Balboa (2006) Widescreen
Sky High movie DVD
$10.99 ROCKY BALBOA, the sixth installment of the long-running film franchise, should amount to nothing more than a lame punch line to a TONIGHT SHOW monologue joke. However, just as his longtime corner man Paulie describes the Italian Stallion himself, this movie is all heart. Thirty years after Sylvester Stallone first introduced the underdog backroom brawler from Philadelphia in the Oscar-winning ROCKY, Rocky Balboa returns for one last dance. Speculation as to whether Balboa, in his prime, would have been able to defeat lackluster champ Mason "The Line" Dixon spurs Dixon's management to set up an exhibition fight between the two. That Balboa is in his 50s in the film and wouldn't be sanctioned to fight anyone, let alone a man 30 years his junior and in the prime of life, must be left up to the viewer's ability to suspend disbelief. To its credit, however, the movie addresses at every turn the insanity of a man approaching 60 getting back into a boxing ring, and Balboa's impassioned explanation of his motivations is just believable enough to give all other improbabilities a free pass.
Though it may sound like faint praise, this is the best ROCKY movie since the original. It's very much a love letter to Philadelphia, and Stallone, who wrote and directed the movie, shoots everything with an unflinching eye that humanizes the mean streets of the City of Brotherly Love and evokes the gritty dignity of the original film. And while Burt Young's cantankerous Paulie and Tony Burton's Duke both return, Talia Shire, sadly, does not reprise her role as the beloved Adrian. It's revealed early in the film that Adrian has died of cancer, and it's the pain of that tragedy ...
