Purchase David CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Enigma Screen Behind The Mirror CD (2000)
David album
$11.55 There is a certain other-worldliness to the musical landscapes created by the artist also known as Michael Cretu. With Enigma, he is known for pioneering the synergy of traditional and world music with dance and electronica. Cretu's craftwork could be described as having taken ground broken by Tangerine Dream and adding mystic spirituality.
"The Gate" opens dramatically with a classical-sounding chorus, then ...
| | Mark Knopfler Golden Heart CD (1996)
David CD music
$8.69 All tracks have been digitally mastered using HDCD technology.
The Dire Straits' mastermind's first non-soundtrack solo album is a refreshingly diverse outing. Mellower overall than his previous fare, there's still plenty of stunning guitar work and solid songcrafting to be had here. The songs cover a lot of stylistic bases, from rock to folk, Celtic, blues and somber balladeering. The disc is full, yet its diversity never becomes superfluous. A well-planned and pleasing slice of craftsmanship from one of rock's reigning originals.
Recorded in Nashville, Tennessee; London, England; Dublin, Ireland.
Personnel: Mark Knopfler (guitar); Paul Brady (whistling); Richard Bennett (guitar, acoustic guitar, tiple); Don Potter (acoustic guitar); Sonny Landreth (steel guitar, National guitar, background vocals); Dónal Lunny (bouzouki); Derek Bell (irish harp); Seán Keane (violin); Michael Doucet (fiddle); Liam O'Flynn (Uilleann pipe); Jo-El Sonnier, Martin ...
| | Gary Numan Jagged CD (2006)
David music CDs
$12.95 On 2006's JAGGED, influential synth-pop artist Gary Numan is firmly entrenched in the dark side. This ominous studio outing finds the British singer/multi-instrumentalist focused on atmosphere more than catchy hooks (a la his lone hit "Cars"), seemingly picking up where David Bowie left off on 1995's OUTSIDE (minus that disc's busy narrative conceit). ...
| | Armik Cafe Romantico CD (2005)
David songs
$12.79 One of the most popular Nuevo Flamenco guitarists, Armik blends together traditional Spanish music with chic production and infectious beats on 2005's CAFÉ ROMANTICO. Armik's modern approach to flamenco incorporates New Age, light jazz, and pop. Because of this, his music crosses stylistic lines with great ease.
Songs such as "Rain Drops" and "Gypsy ...
| | Deepak Chopra Soul Of Healing Meditations CD (2001)
David album
$17.99 THE SOUL OF HEALING MEDITATIONS contains music by Adam Plack with lyrics by Deepak Chopra.
Deepak Chopra teams with Australian new age musician Adam Plack on The Soul of Healing Meditations: A Simple Approach to Getting Younger, which features eight guided meditations set to gentle, world music-inspired instrumentals. The appropriately airy synth washes of "Breathing Meditation" lead into the rhythmic, tabla-driven "Heart Meditation" and soothing atmospheres of "Body Awareness." ...
| | Paint The Sky With Stars: The Best Of Enya CD (1997)
David CD music
$15.89 Enya created a style whose wide open soundscapes were reminiscent of New Age, but more melodic, heavily based on the traditional Celtic music that formed much of her early singing career. This synthesis of styles proved marketable: the single "Orinoco Flow (Sail Away) was a global smash, underscoring the universality of her work. Its dramatic string arrangements and heavenly choir struck a chord which resounded across all cultural and musical boundaries. More hits followed: "Caribbean Blue" assimilated yet another cultural paradigm into Enya's style, bringing the exuberance of the tropics into her ever-broadening ...
| | International: Sony Music Around The World CDs (1999)
David music CDs
$16.19 Digitally remastered by Joe Palmacio (Sony Music Studios, New York, New York).
To commemorate the end of the century, Sony Music assembled the gargantuan 26-disc box set Sony Music 100 Years: Soundtrack for a Century. The title was imposing, as was the idea behind it -- to chronicle the life of the oldest record label in the music industry. To be clear, Sony Music has not existed for 100 years, but the heart of its catalog, Columbia Records, was founded early in the 20th century. Sony acquired Columbia and its various subsidiaries in the late '80s, purchasing one of the richest catalogs in pop history, as the box set proves again and again. Sony realized that most consumers wouldn't invest in a 26-disc box, no matter how impressive it was, so they simultaneously released a series of 12 genre-specific double-disc sets that culled highlights from the box. That left two discs exclusive to the box, which was appropriate, since anyone who spends over $300 on an album deserves a little bonus. As it turns out, the double-disc sets are every bit as impressive as the big box, perhaps more so, because they're easily digestible. Even so, the scope of the 36-track International Music: Sony Music Around the World is impressive. "International music" doesn't necessarily mean worldbeat, though it often does -- it also means the jangle pop of Canada's 54-40 or the adult alternative pop of New Zealand's Bic Runga or the experimental ambient pop of Belgium's Hooverphonic. Consequently, this set is more uneven than the average volume of Sony Music 100 Years; yet in its own way, it's quite impressive, since it proves that Sony Music has been as powerful a force ...
| | Manuel Iman Flowers In The Desert CD (1998)
David songs
$13.25 The easiest thing that a facile flamenco guitar player like Manuel Iman could have done on his debut Flowers in the Desert is stick to the usual jumpy trappings of the genre as he does on the intensely rhythmic "Rumba Chulita." But that would simply put him on par with more established pop flamenco stars Ottmar Liebert and Jesse Cook. Introducing a rock edged electric guitar into the mix proves a stroke of brilliance on a multi-movement piece like "Zingar"; a frothy tropical jam that suddenly grows deeper and more passionate until Iman finally plugs in and wails, screaming and crunching like Van Halen dropping into a little cantina. He uses the rocking instrument as the centerpiece of a soaring Middle Eastern flavored jaunt on the title track. The tune begins unassumingly, loping along with a bright Spanish guitar melody before chant-like vocals soar in the distance, spacy synth harmony appears, and Iman dramatically ups the distortion and goes for broke. While rock & roll is an obvious love, Iman's other main influence appears to be classical music. A marching rhythm pattern on ...

| | Association Renaissance CD (1967)
David music CDs
$11.59 Renaissance was a difficult album for the Association to record. Coming in the wake of a serious hit album (And Then...Along Comes the Association) and two huge hit singles ("Along Comes Mary," "Cherish") and at a time when the group was experiencing more bookings than its members had ever dreamed possible, Renaissance was rushed out under pressure from the band's label. Alas, Renaissance bore little resemblance to its predecessor. For starters, the Association had lost the services of producer Curt Boettcher, who was the architect of the earlier album's extraordinary sound. Additionally, Renaissance was comprised entirely of original material, much of which had been written while the group was touring. These songs were competent and showed some flashes of inspiration but, apart from "Come to Me," nothing here offered anything even remotely as catchy as either of the band's two previous singles. With Association rhythm guitarist Jim Yester's brother Jerry Yester producing, Renaissance has a more stripped-down, conventional folk-rock feel. Apart from lead guitarist Gary Alexander and wind player Terry Kirkman, none of the other members played on this album, but Alexander is a delight, mixing melodic folk-rock picking and strumming, throwing in a few high-energy licks on one or two numbers, and even using a koto for the album's single, "Pandora's Golden Heebie Jeebies." The latter, despite having a grotesque title when following up a single like "Cherish," is a prize piece of pop psychedelia, all gorgeous harmonies and spaced-out sensibilities backed by a bracing beat. Renaissance wasn't a bad album, but was a more routine, predictable recording than its predecessor ...
