Phil Seymour songs Product Information
Though a relatively minor figure in the power-pop movement (he played and wrote songs with Dwight Twilley), Phil Seymour's 1981 solo album is something of a pop gem. From the lead-off track and hit single "Precious to Me" to '50s-styled groovers like "Let Her Dance" to slinky psychedelic rockers like "Don't Blow Your Life Away," PHIL SEYMOUR is filled with tight, feel-good arrangements along with layered, Badfinger-esque harmonies and shimmering, perfectly constructed melodies. ...See Full Description

||Far More Than "Precious" To Me|
Phil Seymour started out as Dwight Twilley’s partner in The Dwight Twilley Band (the pair recorded the classic “I’m On Fire” in 1975). In 1980, Seymour released his self-titled debut album to pretty favorable reviews. The biggest hit was the power-pop classic “Precious To Me”. I came across it in the cut-out bin in 1992. I bought it only for the song I liked, but I was amazed at how much good stuff lurked in the other tracks: the upbeat “Baby It’s You”, the fast and angry cover of the Go-Go’s “We Just Don’t Get Along”, the I-don’t-care vibe of “Let Her Dance”, and the passion in “I Really Love You”. For years, the only song you could find from Phil Seymour - on CD or otherwise - was “Precious To Me”, and that was only on compilation discs. Finally – FINALLY – someone got the idea to re-release it on CD. There’s even three bonus tracks. The album sounds as good as ever, crisp and clean. The unreleased tracks sound a little rawer, a little unfinished. Seymour’s voice sounds a little bit dialed-down on these; I don’t know if they were originally contenders for space on this album or not, but I think they would have fit well with a touch more polish. My only gripe is with the insert. It has a few photos and quotes from various publications and musicians who worked with Phil. I would have preferred a full bio or a complete lyric sheet. But I’m so pleased that this has finally seen the light of CD release. Any time a favorite album gets cleaned and pressed for CD re-release, it’s a day to celebrate. I’ve already done that. Now it’s your turn.

||Rest In Peace, Phil. You are missed!|
This is one of the best pop-rock albums I had ever purchased and had waited many years to find it on CD at a cheap price. CD Universe gave me all of the Phil Seymour "bang" for very affordable "buck." Just getting a CD version of "Baby It's You" was worth what I spent. If you like early 80's pop-rock music, this is a great place to start!

||PHIL SEYMOUR= MAJOR POP FIGURE*|
Precious To Me was a Billboard top 30 hit and there could have been 2 or 3 more smashes from this still thrilling disc. What a voice! * Phil was a major influence on many pop singers - ask Robin Zander or Peter Case or Doug Fieger or Darren Hayes (Savage Garden)...
