| Wall Street Voodoo Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) Excellent CD Some of Roine Stolts best work! Submitted by workman521 (Los Angeles. CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
A Total Musician! I should have given it 5 stars. However it has to bring me out of my seat. It took me a few listens to soak up everything. Stolt is a master at what he does. This recording is outstanding. It was great to hear Neal Morse with him. I wish the two would record an entire album together or better yet get Transatlantic back for one more! The range of playing on these recordings just goes to show the heart and soul of Mr. Stolt. The lyrics are a different animal then Mr. Stolt is used to doing. However with the times they couldn't have came out at a better time. He always surrounds himself with top notch musicians. I wish I knew who the alia's are. I could could go on and on. Break down every track etc. I don't need to. BUY it! I just hope he continues to play for years to come. He has become a ray of sunlight for me for years and I get fired up when he has something coming out. If its with the Flower Kings, The Tangent, Kaipa, Transatlantic, Karmakanic or on his own. I will continue to support this master of music. Long Live The Flower King! Oh, by the way I give it 4 1/2 stars. Submitted by ccbcsb (Midwest, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Excellent album that isn't a Flower Kings one In this solo album (the 3rd one, I think), Roine explores the music that influenced him in his youth, so it isn't a prog album per se, but it is an amazing one.
From Blues to Rock, you'll here a bit of everything, yet it is very cohesive. You'll here influences from Peter Green to Frank Zappa, from Santana to Hendrix, and of course, BB King and Eric Clapton. All is original material, except for a cover from Joni Mitchel which is just great.
Good Roine uses a solo outing to thank his influences (like Rush did with Feedback), while keeping his main band, The Flower Kings away from this, which is very healthy.
I can only enjoy Flower Kings even more. Roine Stole is a musical genius and anyone who hasn't listen to him or TFK is missing pretty much one of the best composers and musicians that have given Progressive Rock a new life amist a world full of mediocre pop music. | | Patriot's Songbook CD (2003) Enhanced CD
Wall Street Voodoo
$12.05 Conceived as an audio companion piece to Caroline Kennedy's book A Patriot's Handbook, A Patriot's Songbook features a melting pot of different artists, styles, and viewpoints that are all nevertheless quintessentially American. Kennedy selected the tracks on this collection, and it's to her credit that she includes two Bob Dylan songs that are usually associated with the protests and questioning of authority that defined the '60s, "Blowin' in the Wind" and "The Times They Are a Changin'" (performed here by Peter, Paul & Mary and the Byrds, respectively) as well as more traditionally patriotic songs like Kate Smith's classic rendition of "God Bless America" and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's "My Country 'Tis of Thee." While the album places a strong emphasis on individualistic folk talents, as represented by Odetta's "If I Had a Hammer" and Woody & Arlo Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land," respect for the armed forces and their rousing music is also apparent in the U.S. Marine Band's "The Armed Forces Medley." Tracks such as Riders in the Sky's "Home on the Range" and Fess Parker's "The Ballad of Davy Crockett" celebrate America's pioneering ...
| | Freedom Through The Years CD (1971) Remastered
Wall Street Voodoo
$14.35 THROUGH THE YEARS was the 1971 release from Freedom, a rock trio fronted by Bobby Harrison (formerly of Procol Harum). "Freestone" and "London City" are among the tracks.
More routine, circa 1970, heavy rock. It differs from their previous effort (Freedom at Last) in the greater length of the songs, which hover around the five-minute mark, and the jettisoning of blues and rock covers (which had comprised a good chunk of Freedom at Last) in favor of all-original ...

| | Caravan All Over You CD (2000) (Import) United Kingdom
Wall Street Voodoo
$16.75 Whenever "classic rock" bands choose to make new renderings of their past glories, the results are infamously less than favorable. Indeed, Caravan purists and erstwhile enthusiasts may find it necessary to re-evaluate All Over You -- and companion release All Over You...Too -- within their respective standards. Contained within are several acoustic-based overhauls of a seemingly well-chosen selection of Caravan's most enduring sides, while the HTD label's remastered CD also contains two additional sides. The tracks primarily fall into two distinct categories: recent renderings of otherwise familiar titles in one camp and the decidedly unsuccessful incorporation of samples -- à la hip-hop -- in the other. In what is assuredly an attempt to update and modernize their sound, the somewhat droning synthesized percussion and studio-manipulated wankery severely detract from Caravan's exceedingly crafted compositions. Primary among the offenders is the "For Richard" suite. The use of an arguably over-the-top and emphatically in-your-face throbbing bassline (think Nine Inch Nails and Metallica) insensitively mows down an otherwise intricate arrangement. Conversely, All Over You does ...

| | James Hollingsworth Seventh String CD (2008)
Wall Street Voodoo
$15.69 'Seventh String' was released on 07/07/07 and comprises 7 songs, all with a distinctive intimate acoustic feel that James felt did justice to the excellent quote from Polly Gabriel:"James's voice is like a seventh string on his guitar, it's uncanny how well the two intermingle with each other and the effect is captivating."The ...
| | Jamie Janisch Jede Traene CD (2008)
Wall Street Voodoo
$18.95 English:Before he can walk or talk, music decides to play a big part in Jamie’s life. Very early on he learns to play the piano, flute and metallophon. Later on he discovers the synthesizers, the drums and begins to sing. Jamie gets involved in a variety of different music projects. He is very comfortable on stage, when practicing and recording in the studio. In Berlin he runs his own studio.Next to his own compositions, he takes on productions of selected artists. Based on his extensive experience of many years, he knows how to support these artists in a very versatile and productive manner. Between 2003/2004 Jamie records his first, very personal solo-album "Traurig". (You only can get a copy direct from Jamie). In the autumn of 2006 he begins his work on "Jede Traene", the release of this album follows at the end of the summer 2007. It is again a deeply personal, even intimate, album, where he works up traumatic experiences at his parent's home, fifteen years on drugs and where he sings about his beloved god. Parallel to his work on "Jede Traene" another album called "autobahnmucke" (ambient) comes along well and will be released in 2008.German:Die ...
