This 2005 album is not only Korn's initial outing for a new label (Virgin), it marks the veteran nu-metal act's first record without founding guitarist Brian "Head" Welch (who left the band after becoming a born-again Christian). Changes for the California group don't stop there--SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE is largely produced by the Matrix, the team best known for providing a slick sheen on songs by Avril Lavigne and Liz Phair. Given all of these transitions, it's not surprising that this record seems notably different than past Korn offerings, with an industrial element both streamlining the quartet's sound and giving it more weight. Although guitar and bass are still prominent on these heavy tracks, greater attention is given to Jonathan Davis's vocals, which are unusually melodic at times (particularly on "Politics" and "For No One"), and David Silviera's punishing work on the drum kit. The result is an unapologetically direct album by a revamped band that seeks to stay true to its past while looking ahead.

Dissapointing I absolutely enjoyed korn's cd before this one and was really hoping they would continue with the same heavy sound that they started with. The heavy songs are great, but their are to many electronic songs. I enjoy when a band is musically creative, without lossing their sound. They electronics on some of the songs were more dominant than the musical instruments. That is what I really didn't care for. I enjoy the heavy metal korn, not a electric korn. pretty good! i think its good. every band can experiment with new stuff. maybe with their next album they'll mix the old stuff with the new stuff, how sweet would that be?

See You On The Other Side CD music
$9.59 GREATEST HITS VOL. 1 is a 17-track primer for Korn, a key force behind the "nu metal" tsunami that swept through pop music in the mid-to-late 1990s. Led by frontman (and former coroner's assistant) Jonathan Davis, these California natives weave low-tuned guitars, hip-hop-fueled bass lines, and bleak imagery into memorable songs like the bile-fueled stomp-fest "Right Now," goth-tinged "Alone ...
