Closed Captioned; Standard Screen; Soundtrack English; English Subtitles The bible comes vibrantly to life when an old Sunday school teacher recounts parables from The Good Book. An all-black cast brings to life this screen version of Marc Connelly's play. A series of biblical stories are told from a black perspective. Unlike many so-called Hollywood biblical epics, this sensitive, thoughful film brings to the scriptures a profound level of understanding. The music consists of traditional spirituals.
Three television productions were eventually made from the play during the 1950s. Green Pastures Movie Review Average Rating: (4.8 out of 5 stars) Wonderful Movie We know that there are no fish frys in heaven or smoking cigars, but its a good movie, the singing and the acting was very good. Most of all the Lord's name is not de lawd, I hate that.! It being an all African American movie it was good, but for the time thats how Hollywood saw black people, which I think was far from the real truth. Perfect gift Every BHM (Black History Month) my family exchange gifts about our heritage through books, movies, trading cards, etc. I thought this was the perfect gift for my Mother whom was born in 1936. To be able to watch movie with her and to see the smile on her face was PRICELESS Submitted by Proud (Las Vegas,USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Great Service I have used CD Universe several times. Never have had any delays receiving product. The quality of CD's and DVD's is superb PLUS! CD Universe has DVD's and CD's from back in the day which I wasn't able to find until I stumbled upon CD Universe. I buy my DVD's and CD's no where else because believe me everything that glitters is not gold unless it is from CD Universe :) Submitted by YDEVANS2 (Charlotte,NC) Was This Review Helpful? Green Pastures DVD Green Pastures, The
"You gotta git your minds fixed," the rural preacher tells Sunday School children. And the best way to do that fixin' is from Old Testament stories narrated by the preacher, played by a black cast, backed by the joyful gospel sounds of the Hall Johnson Choir and based on Marc Connelly's folk-themed Pulitzer Prize-winning play.
Rex Ingram portrays de Lawd, who has a 100,000 things to do before any human's next breath - like instructing Noah (Eddie Anderson); taking counsel with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; or teaching Moses tricks to dazzle Pharaoh. Get your mind fixed for The Green Pastures. It's a film of its time. But like all great art, it transcends it.

Green Pastures review
$10.29 With the release of Robert Altman's M*A*S*H in 1970, a new form of comedy was born, one that would help to forever change the face of cinema. Altman's audacious film reflected the American counterculture's growing distrust of religion and government in the late 1960s and early 1970s, resulting in one of the biggest box office smashes of its time. Introducing the techniques he would employ throughout his storied career--overlapping dialogue, a constantly moving camera with a heavy amount of zooming, and a bold combination of frank subject matter with cynical humor--Altman immediately vaulted himself to Hollywood's upper ranks. Based on the novel by Richard Hooker, M*A*S*H follows a group of Mobile Army Surgical Hospital officers as they perform surgery and pass the time just miles from the front lines of the Korean conflict. Led by sardonic captains "Hawkeye" Pierce (Donald Sutherland) and "Trapper" John McIntyre (Elliott Gould), the film has the feel of an absurd three-ring circus. Other characters include the uptight nurse "Hot Lips" O'Houlihan ...

Green Pastures review
$19.55 British progressive rockers Wishbone Ash developed a sound that was an amalgam of space rock, heavy metal, and folk music, characterized by their use of two lead guitars, complex arrangements, and a predilection for historical themes. During the 1970s they were one of the most popular hard rock groups in England, but their popularity has remained strong throughout the years due to their amazing live performances and continued musical innovation. PHOENIX RISING presents rare concert footage from the entire span of the ...

$23.15 Norman Lear's taboo-breaking 1970s television series stars Carroll O'Connor as Archie Bunker, the bigoted, working-class family man with amusingly conservative views. His attitudes can't help but have a big impact on his interactions with his family, which consists of his scatterbrained but saintly wife Edith (Jean Stapleton), daughter Gloria (Sally Struthers), and liberal son in-law Mike "Meathead" Stivic (Rob Reiner). A landmark for the frank, funny way it dealt with social ...
