| | Ambrosia How Much I Feel And Other Hits CD Ambrosia Discography of CDs
(3 Customer Reviews)
While nowhere near as thorough as 1997's Anthology or 2004's reissue of that particular collection, this 2003 survey (much like its sibling discs) skips over the early years of Ambrosia and jumps right to the point in their career for which people remember them best: their gentle, pop-friendly ballads. However, unlike the 2004 Anthology this greatest-hits compilation remains predominantly filler-free, making it a sensible choice for those looking to purchase just their hits and nothing more. ~ Rob Theakston

How Much I Feel And Other Hits
$7.59 Although they would become better known for smooth AOR ballads like "How Much I Feel," Ambrosia first made their name with this album of progressive rock with a pop music twist. Its songs skillfully blend strong melodic hooks and smooth vocal harmonies with music of an almost symphonic density. Good examples of this crossbreeding are "Drink of Water," which sounds like the Beach Boys tackling a Pink Floyd space rock epic, and "Nice, Nice, Very Nice," which utilizes a combination of stately close-harmony vocals and dynamic instrumental breaks to put forth a clever lyric derived from a Kurt Vonnegut novel. The complexity of the music is further highlighted by its crystal-clear sonic landscape, mixed by Alan Parsons, which highlights unique touches like the use of a Russian balalaika ...

How Much I Feel And Other Hits
$8.29 The adult-contemporary band Toto--initially comprised of Steve Porcaro, Jeff Porcaro, David Paich, Steve Lukather, Bobby Kimball, Robert Toteaux, and David Hungate--hit the stratosphere with its 1982 Grammy Award winner for best album, TOTO IV. This effort (the group's best-known work) spawned the multi-platinum ...
| | Marillion Happiness Is The Road: Essence Vol. 1 CD (2008)
How Much I Feel And Other Hits
$10.05 The band that ushered in the British neo-prog wave in the 1980s, Marillion has proved itself to be a true survivor. Still going strong in 2008, the band is as ambitious as ever, releasing their latest batch of tunes, HAPPINESS IS THE ROAD, as two separate volumes. Where its sister album, THE HARD SHOULDER, is a more visceral, rocking effort, the first volume, ESSENCE, is a lush, atmospheric affair, somewhat reminiscent of latter-day (post-Roger ...

| | Statistics Leave Your Name CD (2004)
How Much I Feel And Other Hits
$12.39 Statistics' Denver Dalley takes his work very seriously. As an artist, music means much more in literal terms for Dalley, and that's probably why he's ventured off in different directions. He wants to experiment, and the desire to do so was exactly right on his 2003 self-titled EP. His research and development continues on Statistics' first full-length album, Leave Your Name. Less concentrated on complex electronic arrangements, Leave Your Name thrives on layered guitars for something more hook-based. Rich new wave ...
| | Danielia Cotton Small White Town CD (2005)
How Much I Feel And Other Hits
$10.99 Hopewell, N.J. native Danielia Cotton called her first full-length album Small White Town because the singer/songwriter grew up in a small town that was, in fact, largely white. But Cotton herself isn't white. She's African-American, and she's the type of African-American artist who -- like Tracy Chapman, Living Colour, Joan Armatrading, 24-7 Spyz, Lenny Kravitz or Sound Barrier -- is seldom, if ever, heard on urban contemporary or classic soul radio stations in the United States. Cotton is very much a rocker; while there are R&B and blues elements in her vocals, she is a rocker first and foremost. Much of Cotton's inspiration comes from classic rock; Bonnie Raitt, ...
