Covering the later years of Guitar Slim's rather short career, this 15-track compilation consists of tracks recorded from 1955 until the bluesman's death in 1959. Though most fans agree that Guitar Slim's earlier sessions for Specialty Records are the high point of his career, THE ATCO SESSIONS cherrypicks the best tunes from his tenure at Atco, leaving aside the misguided attempts to put the idiosyncratic bluesman into a more standard rhythm and blues or rock and roll format. The opening track, "Down Through the Years" is a classic on the level of his earlier masterpiece, "The Things I Used To Do." "If I Should Lose You," "It Hurts To Love Someone," and the two instrumentals both titled "Guitar Slim Boogie" are also more than worth the price of admission.
Recorded between 1956 and 1958.

Atco Sessions CD music
$12.69 Two previously unreleased tracks have been added to this re-release.
COLD DAY IN HELL is one of the standouts from Otis Rush's 1970s catalogue. Rush's anguished vocals, piercing guitar leads, and overall gutsy attack are in full effect here on galloping rockers ("Cut You a Loose") and loping groovers ("Mean Old World") alike. Rush specializes in slow-burn down-tempo numbers--"You're Breaking My Heart," "Society Woman," and the wiry title track fall into this ...

Atco Sessions songs
$12.69 "I sit here waiting for the rain to come. For the reign to pass. For the ebb and flow of things a poet makes into water. I too am always thirsty, never alone. This “we” is silent in a desert of nothings we’ve said. We’re nothing better than what we say. I’m talking about Hip-Hop, our world, the “I” inside of it. It’s time I loved you. It’s time I gave you water." - Vejae, The Order Of Things Born in Los Angeles to West-Indian parents, Vejae was uplifted in an era of latchkeys and Voltron, Reagan and Crips, slipping consciousness and Tupac, The Box, MTV and suburbs like cities. Schooled mostly by family, mentored more by friends, Vejae nurtured his art—the way of his life—to resemble the energy he wanted to see. A Van Nuys street pronounced him alive. An acre in Lancaster articulated his youth, stumbling over tumbleweeds, allergies, gangs moving in. This was home for his first crossover ...
