Closed Captioned; Standard Screen; Soundtrack English Humorous, inspiring, and surprisingly heartbreaking, this low budget ($1,100 to be exact) documentary follows Hollywood hopeful Brian Herzlinger's attempt to get a date Drew Barrymore, who he has adored since childhood. While low-level industry jobs have left Brian's bank account empty, his creative ambitions remain intact. After winning the grand prize on a pilot game show (for giving the answer "Drew Barrymore"), Brian uses the winning money, his creative friends, every possible film-world connection, and Circuit City's generous 30-day return policy on video equipment to document his against-all-odds mission in meticulous detail. Though his friends and family describe him as a great, funny guy, it is at first hard to imagine why a movie star like Drew would bother with this fumbling, self-described Average Joe. Starting off small, MY DATE WITH DREW initially offers viewers little hope that its director/star will get his sought-after date, much less result in a coherent documentary. But as the film moves along, the viewer feels the odds changing. Over time, Brian's onscreen personality starts to match the magnetic one described by his friends and family--his funny, hopeful, and genuine charm appeals to the dreamer in everyone. Brian's awkward quirks and insecurities provide plenty of amusing moments, and make him an empathetic character. The point of Brian's quest becomes not only to get a date with Drew Barrymore, but to really see his idea through, no matter what the end result may be. What matters here is not so much whether or not Herzlinger and Drew ever meet, but rather that he succeeds in going for his dream--proving that getting out there and taking a chance is where it all begins. Theatrical Release: AUGUST 5, 2005 (LIMITED) My Date With Drew Reviews: "[A] revealing examination of the protective shell that surrounds Hollywood royalty."
-- Stephen Holden, New York Times "MY DATE WITH DREW is a classic crowd-pleaser. It's a documentary made on a shoestring by amateurish film-school grads, and its appeal rests on the likability of the neurotic but affable main character, who is a man obsessed."-- Claudia Puig, USA Today

$9.25 Animosity's first full-length is surprisingly mature, considering that some members were only 15 when recording the album. The group hadn't yet grown into the technical death metal behemoth it would become, but its identity was already evident. Shut It Down mixes atonal death metal with hardcore punk breakdowns and a strong thrash influence, the latter perhaps a product of the band's Bay Area origins. The production is crisp and clear, but a bit light. Thus, the speedier passages are more effective than ...

$9.79 Reviving the beloved comedy franchise THE PINK PANTHER, the brilliant Steve Martin returns to his slapstick physical-comedy roots. After years of flirting with the world of high culture--from his hilarious NEW YORKER pieces to his critically acclaimed novella, SHOPGIRL--Martin is back to doing what he became famous for: splitting our sides with laughter. Here he reinvents the character of Inspector Clouseau, the hapless, bungling detective with the overwrought French accent and metaphorically huge head. With his black beret and Pepe LaPew moustache, the policeman is called on to solve a high-profile crime, making a series of hilariously clumsy missteps along the way.
The story centers on a familiar murder-heist narrative. A famous soccer coach meets an untimely death by homicide (via poisoned dart), leaving behind Xania, his beautiful and famous fiancée (pop star Beyonce Knowles), who is devastated. Not only has Xania lost her intended, but she also finds that her engagement ring--the fabled "pink panther" diamond--is missing. Inspector Closeau's boss, Inspector Dreyfus (a topnotch Kevin Kline), decides to give the case to his incompetent inferior, scheming to take over the case at ...

$15.15 OPEN SEASON, an animated action-adventure, follows the fortunes of two forest-animal misfits. Boog (Martin Lawrence) is a gentle and domesticated bear; Elliot (Ashton Kutcher) is an absentminded and accident-prone deer who has been shunned by his herd. Together, they struggle to adapt to the ways of life in the wild and on their own. Boog longs to return to the cushy conditions he had with Beth (Debra Messing), an animal-loving park ranger who rescued him and raised him as a pet from the time he was a cub. Desperate to please his new friend, who spared him from an overzealous hunter (Gary Sinise), Elliot tries to help lead Boog back to the mountainside town, but instead they are met with hostility by their fellow forest creatures, including a combative squirrel, McSquizzy (Billy Connelly); a perfectionist beaver, Reilly (Jon Favreau); and a machismo-fueled deer, Ian (Patrick Warburton), who is Elliot's nemesis. Now, with hunting season upon them, ...
