Almost Complete Allan Sherman
If you like Allan Sherman, you'll want to get this limited and some would say pricey set. Has most of this artist's works. I found this set an enjoyable collection and would recommend this to any Allan Sherman fan or 1960's era humor lover.

It's about time, Rhino!
I've been waiting for this box set since the advent of CD's. It was then that I suggested it to Rhino. I was temporarily dismissed with a single disc "best of" collection, but now I am happy to say, the most important Allan Sherman selections have now finally been transferred to the digital format. As the liner notes indicate, this box should not be considered complete, yet the omissions are not really missed. I have been driving around with this box set in my cd changer(so to speak) for almost a month now. And even though I've had most of this material committed to memory since the age of 12 or so, I can honestly say I don't hink I'll ever get tired of it. The previously unreleased bonus tracks are refreshing, the sound is pristine, and as I said before, all the important stuff is here. Get it. You won't regret it.

The Most of Allan Sherman
Yeh Folks, It's almost all here. Those great records that your folks played in the Sixties, frozen in time. Along with many tasty rare tidbits. It's limited, and will sell out. Don't miss it.

A trip down a boomer's memory lane
I must admit I was looking forward to this collection a lot, and was surprised to be somewhat disappointed.
The collection is remarkable in it's completeness, and the inclusion of previously unreleased material is welcome, but . . .
The stuff I thought was incredibly funny when I was twelve doesn't quite live up to my memory of it. Far too many of these numbers start with a bang and don't go anywhere. The ones that hold up: "Al & Yetta," "Harvey and Shiela" (mostly), "Mrs. Goldfarb," "Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah" and some others are truly small masterpieces of their kind, and they make the rest worthwhile (although some of the audience reactions seem terribly overdone). None of the material is terrible, but you find yourself wishing he'd taken more time to polish the it.
I liked the inclusion of "His Own Little Island'" George Gobel's song from "Let It Ride," I think the only non-Sherman work in the collection.
I still recommend this collection, but be prepared to experience modified joy.

A Total Ripoff
If these titles were available individually (I wish they were)the total cost would be less than they are for the boxed set
