This fascinating 13-song performance was recorded by the famous WDR Rockpalast on Robin Trower's 60th birthday, March 9th 2005 at the Crossroads Festival in Germany. Trower's career has spanned more than four decades and he is considered to be one of the finest guitarists in Rock n' Roll history. He spent the early 60's playing guitar in various London based outfits, and received his big break 1967 joining Procol Harum. After leaving Procol Harum 5 years later, Trower embarked on his solo career and found great success. This DVD displays the fluid and powerful guitar style that has made him legendary. Trower steals the show RT plays a guitar more 'soulfully' (see informative interview) than ever before. It has been many years since I followed him directly - from Bridge of Sighs to BLT - and have missed many of his experimental pieces in between. This is the first live video I have seen and was pleasantly impressed. The work on Bridge was a continuation of the Hendrix aura and made all of us go back to hear him in Procol Harum.
Here, he plays his biggest hits and some newer work.
He can wring some great feeling out the Strat and amazingly keeps his group together. Lead singer does a great job belting out the lyrics; drums and bass are backup to the hard charging guitar work.
A must if you like guitar as the centerpiece of rock; this recording captures Trower in a rare 'best of' night. Wistful remembrence of days gone by, yet hopeful too. Submitted by johnhenry (Orlando, FL USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
Trower, live at last... waited a long time for Trower to come out on dvd. the dude has aged, i wish they wouldn't have gotten closeups on him. that will not stop me from saying that his guitar playing is solid. i am glad to finally own Trower on dvd, but i would like to have heard him play more of his classics, but the new stuff wasn't bad at all, and he actually sung one of the new songs. Favorite tune: daydream Submitted by jcastle (in the heart of TX) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Excellent Release~Robin Trower is back! I can't say enough good things about this DVD! Nice Camera work, Excellent Audio, Great Material, both old & new.
A work full of Energy!It Rocks,it Soars,
It Glides, It Jams!...You have to get this one, RT fan or not. This is smokin'Lead at its best! Robin's the focus, and rightly so.Jimi,SRV,Rory Gallagher, they're all gone, but Robin is still here, out on Tour! His natural talent on a Strat is something you have to hear and see for yourself, what a great player! Still amazing after all these years, his sound is so much like Jimi's at times,it's uncanny, yet it's his own.Trower Power's a uniquely skilled presence in the World of Rock, and this DVD shows you why RT has a place all of his own.
As a Bonus, it has an interesting interview with Robin at the end.
Buy It! You will Really Enjoy It, and so will your Friends! Top Shelf! Submitted by ~LocomotoDave (Palm Springs, CA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$7.39 Despite his origins as a low-budget filmmaker with a taste for the unsavory side of life, Peter Jackson has turned into an "event" filmmaker--someone who can conjure up a movie on a scale unlike anything we've seen before. KING KONG is his sprawling, epic remake of Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack's 1933 movie of the same name, and it is as big as the gorilla that runs riot through Jackson's rendering of Depression-era New York. Keeping the simple yet effective plot intact--a film crew travels to the mysterious Skull Island, picks up Kong, and brings him back to New York City--Jackson expands on this basic premise by drawing on the jaw-dropping talents of his special effects team to satisfy his thirst for the grand spectacle.
The movie posits Naomi Watts as Ann Darrow, the starry-eyed blonde beauty whom Kong falls for; Jack Black as Carl Denham, a low-rent Orson Welles look-alike who drags the crew to the island to make his movie; and Adrian Brody as Jack Driscoll, a hack playwright who battles Kong both physically and for Darrow's heart. As the men struggle against Kong and the lumbering dinosaurs of Skull Island, Andy Serkis, who made the character of Gollum so believable ...
