If you liked the gig at Ronnie's Scott in London, don't buy this! The 90's has got Roy her with cheezy synth sound and saxophone. If you like that stuff, go ahead. But that's NOT the Roy Ayers I learned to love!

 "The Sunshine Man"
This DVD is only for the true Roy Ayers fan. The Godfather of Acid Jazz dazzles the crowd with his mellow vocals and smooth vibraphonic sounds. This compilation of music gives further credence to Roy being regarded as one of the best Jazz Legends of all time!!!

 By Far The Best Sounding DVD By Roy Ayers!!
Ok if you like Roy Ayers and have a descent home theater system you are going to love this DVD. Done in Germany by Ohne Filter who in my opinion continues to produce some the best jazz & Funk DVDs on the market. First I have the DVD by Roy Live at Lonnie Scotts in London and the performance in London was good however the audio was at best fair, there were all types of noises such as distortions, hums and other nuisances. These noises no doubt had a negative affect on the total audio mix which turns out to be not good. The level of musician was ok and overall I rated it a 5. However this DVD from Ohne Filter blows it away in every aspect. First the audio engineering was nothing short of great! It was clean, very musical and dynamic. The level if musicianship was very good, the drummer was great holding down the grove and staying in the pocket all night long. The rest of the group complimented each other and flowed effortlessly through the whole concert. Roy preformed most of his know hits and seem to enjoy himself mingling with the audience. Roy did play the electronic phones instead of the traditional ones and the sounds he got out of the electric phones were good! The only short comings I noticed was that the video could have been sharper from distant angles and they forget the musicians credits, other than that I still rate this DVD at least 4 stars mostly because of the performance and audio was very good. Sounds the best in Dolby Digital 7.1 enhanced stereo and you will need a good clean powered sub if you want to hear the drummers double bass kick! The Watchman

 Watch Roy Rip it up Right Royally!
Great Sound & Video production combine with the right mix of Funk Fusion R&B Jazz & Soul to ensure this DVD is a winner. Roy is in ace form and delivers his very modern sound with the support of a very able but annonymous band. The vocals are shared with a guy who sounds a bit like Bobby Womack and a youngster on sax who reminds me of Ronnie Laws. Go for it!
