Led by vocalist Gary Brooker, Procol Harum set the standard for progressive rock in the late 1960s and early 70s. Despite numerous lineup changes throughout the years, the high standard of musicianship and song crafting has remained a constant for Procol Harum. Captured here are classic early performances of 11 of their early favorites. Best known for the timeless classic "A Whiter Shade of Pale," England's Procol Harum started out as a quintessential 1960s British Invasion pop band but soon morphed into a complex and sophisticated prog-rock outfit. This release captures Procol Harum at the height of their early success with a 1971 concert that delivers live renditions of hits like "A Salty Dog," "Shine on Brightly," and "In the Wee Small Hours of Sixpence."

Procol Harum Live - The Encore Collection Live Video Procol Harum Live - The Encore Collection Live Movie Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Don't Pass Up This Excellent Made For German T.V. DVD. Recorded for Radio Bremen in the early seventies, for German television, Procol Harum give an outstanding performance. I bought this dvd after a friend recommended it and told me the sound and picture quality was excellent. Sure enough he was right, and Gary Brooker and company go thru eleven songs. You've got Shine On Brightly, The Wee Small Hours Of Sixpence, Still They'll Be More, Pilgrim's Progress, A Salty Dog, Power Failure plus more. Running time is approximately 53 minutes. Classic Procol Harum. A must have for the progressive rocker. Submitted by Barry ("Hallandale Beach,Fl.,USA") Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

| | Message To Love: The Isle Of Wight Festival - The Movie DVD (1970)
Procol Harum Live - The Encore Collection Live DVD
$7.89 MESSAGE TO LOVE: THE ISLE OF WIGHT FESTIVAL is a vital historical document that depicts a climate in which the boundless hippie optimism of the 1960s was about to be chewed up and spit out by the materialistic capitalism of the 1970s. Poorly organized by three upstart concert promoters, the festival brought together 600,000 music fans for a star-studded five-day event. Unfortunately, not many of the festival attendees bothered to purchase tickets, and the resulting dramas kept the concert from becoming the free-and-easy event that people dreamed it would be. While the lineup reads like a who's who of the era's greatest artists--The Who, Free, Taste, Tiny Tim, John Sebastian, Donovan, Ten Years After, The Moody Blues, Kris Kristofferson, Joni Mitchell, Miles Davis, Leonard Cohen, ELP, Joan Baez, Jethro Tull, The Doors, and more--the overlying tensions threatened to drown out the music itself. That said, the show had its standout moments, including what would turn out to be the final ...

Lead vocalist Ian Anderson also offers insight into what was going on behind the scenes of Jethro Tull at a time before the band had ...
