Scottish pop-rock outfit Texas have enjoyed a rich and surprisingly eclectic career. Since their 1989 debut, they have dabbled in blues, R&B, and adult contemporary fare, and even collaborated with Wu-Tang's Method Man. Their 2005 release, RED BOOK, finds the group exploring the myriad strains of electronica. Though Sharleen Spiteri's lilting singing is still at the fore, her voice is manipulated and filtered to fit in with the pulsing electro textures that carry RED BOOK. Fans of the band's earlier records may feel a bit out of place here, but the change in Texas is a refreshing one, and brings a crisp, vital sparkle to their sound.
2005 return of the Scottish favorites with their 6th studio album, produced by Brian Higgins. This follow-up to 2003's "Careful What You Wish For" was rated by UK mag Q with four stars. The critics have hailed this album as marking a return to form for the band with the elements rock, synths and soulful elements blending together to create their distinctive sound. Includes the singles "Getaway" and "Can't Resist".
