House To The Streets CD music
$9.99 Black Eyed Peas, the hip-hop crossover juggernaut that propelled singer Fergie and producer Will.I.Am to superstardom, have, since 2003's ELEPHUNK, been audaciously plugging away at their bombastic but lighthearted style of rap-cum-dance pop--an effort that has translated to a run of successful chart-topping singles ...

House To The Streets songs
$8.99 "The Whole World" (w/ Killer Mike) won the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group.
While on the surface, Outkast's initial single, 1994's "Player's Ball," may have seemed like just another hip-hop-word-of-the-moment single, closer attention revealed the mushed-up, twister slang of the lyrics and the oddly droll angle on Yuletide packed into a pop-rap single of gangstas at play. Thereafter, Big Boi and Dre produced three solid, but under-appreciated albums in the '90s, remaining on the periphery of stardom with the occasional hit, and stirring a bit of controversy with "Rosa Parks." While enough of a buzz had built by 2000, no one could have predicted the intensely beautiful chaos and disorder permeating STANKONIA. From the smooth rasp of "So Fresh, So Clean" to the dark, rising anger encased in a hook too good not to be the #1 single it was "Ms. Jackson," to the fury of drums, tongue-twisters and revival refrains on the brilliantly incomprehensible "B.O.B."
BIG BOI & DRE PRESENT includes all aforementioned hits and will likely add a few to the Outkast legend as the duo somehow manages to expand its horizons further. Of particular note, "The Whole World" starts off in a vaudeville world replete with tympani before a singsong chorus gives way ...
| | Monster Hits 85 CD (1999) (Import) Canada
House To The Streets album
$7.79 This budget-priced sampler contains ten recordings that figured in the pop Top 40 in 1985, all of them released originally on Columbia and Epic Records. Those labels also issued Top Ten hits during that year by the likes of Wham!, Sade, Bruce Springsteen, and Billy Joel, among others, but none of them are found here. Instead, the tracks are by relatively minor acts, the most successful of them being REO Speedwagon and Luther Vandross. Nevertheless, these selections present many of these artists at their popular peaks. For Eddie Murphy, Cock Robin, 'Til Tuesday, Paul Young, Loverboy, and REO Speedwagon, the included song was their biggest hit. Mainstream pop/rock is the dominant style, as conveyed by Cock Robin, 'Til Tuesday, Young, Loverboy, the Hooters, and REO Speedwagon, but the influence of funk star Rick James is strongly felt in "Lovergirl," by his protégé Teena Marie, and in Murphy's "Party All the Time," which he wrote, arranged, and produced, while also providing backup vocals. When there was an editing difference between the original single and album version of a track, the compilers have opted for the album edit, so that ...
| | Phyllis Dillon Love Is All I Had: A Tribute To The Queen Of Jamaican Soul CD (2004)
House To The Streets CD music
$11.49 A reluctant pop star if ever there was one, Phyllis Dillon balanced a recording career in Jamaica with a job in the U.S. working in a bank. Love Is All I Had is the most comprehensive collection of her work to date, packed to the brim with a staggering 29 cuts of vintage rocksteady and early reggae, all cut with Duke Reid for his Treasure Isle imprint. The earliest songs from Love Is All I Had date from 1967 (with the exception of Dillon's 1966 self-penned debut, "Don't Stay Away"), and exude an innocence common in the best sides from the Shirelles, Lesley Gore, and exponents of the girl group sound. Dillon's cover of Bettye Swann's "Make Me Yours" is such a song, while her original "It's Rocking Time" would help to define the rocksteady era itself. Although she will always be associated with rocksteady, Dillon recorded some great ...
