| | Seven Witches Amped CD - Import Seven Witches Discography of CDs
Guitarist Jack Frost started Seven Witches in 1999.Though the band has seen its share of lineup changes, with the release of their sixth studio CD "Amped" the definitive lineup and consequent sound of 7W has at long last been achieved. Jack, along with existing drummer Jeff Curenton, culled the vocal talents of Alan Tecchio and the bass mastery of Kevin Bolembach (who played together in the band Non Fiction from 1990-1994) to round out the Amped lineup. Amped contains nine songs of heartfelt metal. With lyric topics ranging from the theory that the West Nile virus is actually a terrorist-designed disease to the song Fame Gets You Off that lambasts the legal circus of American trials involving famous people, there is plenty for the listener to dig into idea-wise. Riff-wise Jack is at the top of his game. From fast, brutal chops to slower, wall-of-sound-like pummelings, this is metal at its fines!. In the style of classic metal bands, 7W have crafted a CD that takes the listener on a heavy musical journey that even includes a power ballad called BE. The band is ready to take the world by storm and already have some dates in the U.S. and Canada with the band Kamelo!. REGAIN RECORDS .2006 Seven Witches Amped Songs Amped Review

$97.69 Commercially, the Vipers never did truly compete with the giants of skiffle. They might have been EMI's biggest-selling band in that area, but compared to Lonnie Donegan and Chas McDevitt, they were small potatoes indeed. Musically, however, the sound of this band would come to epitomize British pop in the years leading up to (and even including) the first days of the Beatles, a hard melodic punch backed up by a musical edge and harmonic elasticity that completely belie the band's chosen niche in the skiffle movement. With a little more electricity, they would have pipped Cliff Richard to the rock & roll starter's flag, and with a little less reliance upon American role models, they could have single-handedly invented Brit-pop. All of that (and more) screams out of almost every cut in this box set, a typically grandiose Bear Family gesture that not only wraps up every cut the Vipers ever released, but also a swath of unreleased material (including a souvenir of the short-lived lineup built around Hank Marvin and Jet Harris). Listeners also get the pseudonymous LP recorded for American consumption by the so-called Original Soho Skiffle Group, a clutch of Wally Whyton solo singles, and four final tracks recorded by the band following a brief reunion in 1960. Spread over three CDs, these 64 songs constitute the Vipers' legacy, but the sheer ferocity of the band in full flight is worth any number of cuts by the group's contemporaries; if you want to apply modern terminology to the subject, this is skiffle on the edge, a new wave of musical interpretation that is so far ahead of its time that you cannot help but be reminded of another band that signed for Parlophone, recorded at Abbey Road, and enjoyed George Martin as its producer. And no, that doesn't mean Gerry & the Pacemakers. In keeping with Bear Family tradition, 10,000 YEARS AGO arrives in an LP-sized box with a booklet to match and, therein, a host of rare photographs and cuttings, plus a lengthy interview with head Viper Whyton. It all adds up to one of the sharpest and most essential demonstrations of early British rock you're ever going to hear. Commercially, the Vipers never did truly compete with the giants of skiffle. $10.75 Personnel: Jennymay Logan, Emma Smith (violin); Vince Sipprell (viola); Laura Moody (cello). Audio Mixer: Jim Abbiss. Recording information: Pierce Rooms. Simon Lord and Theo Keating cut their teeth in, respectively, Simian and the Wiseguys, and that electro experience pours out (with touches of Pet Shop Boys pop, Radiohead introspection, and Stone Roses verve) on their 2009 debut disc as the Black Ghosts. The self-titled LP is a simple yet effective slab of infectious pop from the peppy "Any Way You Choose To Give It" to the moody, inward-bent "Full Moon." When Simian disbanded, the majority of the group became Simian Mobile Disco, while former singer Simon Lord hooked up with former Wiseguys producer DJ Touche (aka Theo Keating) and became one half of the Black Ghosts. Though the duo's self-titled debut album is less bouncy and eclectic than Simian's work, Lord's years with that band sharpened his pop skills, and his smooth croon is still immediately recognizable. To be fair to the Black Ghosts, Lord and Touche whip through nearly as many sounds and hooks as Simian did -- they just take a subtler, slightly more sophisticated approach that fits in nicely with Hot Chip, Chromeo, ...
