Brilliant!! Neal does it again. What a great follow-up to Testimony! The great thing about this is the layers and sublayers of musical themes combined with a great story. I know some won't be able to get past the Christian themes, but give this a shot and you will see why Neal is really one of the best musicians alive today. This and Testimony has led me to check out some Transatlantic and Spock's Beard--great stuff!! By trekearl (Sturgis, MI) This review is for a different format.
Awesome! HUGE! I purchased "One" from a friends recommendation. It's incredible. So much more than I expected. He's a genius! By tfrailey (Dee-troit!) This review is for a different format.
Trying to Make a change in my last review. Hey, to whom it may concern, I submitted (see matching E-mail address)a review a few minutes ago and didn't realize there was a Star rating at the top. If you can change it for me to "5 stars" rather than the 3 stars it defaulted to I would appreciate it. I couldn't find a way to go back and change it myself. I don't want it to go in as 3 stars and degrade the score of this project. Thank-you. By giveitup (Agoura Hills, Ca. USA) This review is for a different format.
Neal Morse is a gifted musical genius. I believe that the fuel that produces 'out-and-beyond' excellent music is "Passion" and Neal Morse is definitely not found lacking. From his perspective, it must be satisfying to be so talented and fluent in your art form that you can pour your life and your life story into it, knowing that it goes out and grabs the hearts and minds of listeners all over the world. I hope he never stops listening to what drives him because he's got what it takes. This album, One, is phenominal. Buy it and Neal's past work (Spocks Beard), you won't be disappointed, especially if you're a Prog fan. By giveitup (Agoura Hills, Ca. USA) This review is for a different format.
| ONE While "One" may not reach the epic grandeur of Neal's previous "Testimony," it is in no way lacking. Neal did opt for more collaboration in writing both the music and lyrics with Randy George and Mike Portnoy, but both aspects of the album are distinctly the creation of this Spock's Beard and Transatlantic alumn. Even though it isn't among the longer of the epics on this album, "Author of Confusion" is definately a standout track with amazing vocal arrangements and a rockin' tune to boot. This journey from man's creation, through his separation, to his reunion with God is sure to be the One for any fan of Neal's previous work, as well as any curious listeners.
