Turn Back album
$5.99 Joel Schumacher's 1987 film The Lost Boys capitalized on a temporary lull in horror movies in the late '80s and created a heavily music-video-influenced vampire homage with enough campy humor, heavy metal costumes, and hunky stars to put a fresh spin on the genre. An amusing piece of eye candy spiked by a few creepy moments, the movie, in typical '80s style, relies heavily on the soundtrack to bolster its emotional core. The soundtrack, like the film, works great on the surface -- but don't go much deeper. A mix of covers and ...

Turn Back songs
$19.65 Though MORPH isn't Fagen's first post-9/11outing (that would be Steely Dan's EVERYTHING MUST GO), it deals more explicitly with that world. For all the foreboding expressed in "Mary Shut the Garden Door," though, it takes a narrator as willfully perverse as Fagen to find himself turned on by the airport security officer giving him the once-over in "Security Joan." MORPH THE CAT is prime Fagen, existing in that singular Twilight Zone where Bob James plays the Leonard Cohen songbook and makes you love it.
This set is another contemporary classic from half of the duo Steely Dan. With Fagen's adventurous musical depth, uniquely layered lyrics, and entertaining subject matter (from a conversation withthe ghost of Ray Charles to a romantic liaison with an airport security guard named Joan), this set is the newest is the newest chapter chronicling ...

| | Natalie Imbruglia Glorious-The Singles 1997-2007 Special Edition CDs (2007) (Import) Bonus DVD; United Kingdom
Turn Back CD music
$22.35 What was impressive about the Natalie Imbruglia album Glorious: The Singles 1997-2007 was that Imbruglia had a writing or co-writing credit on 13 of the 14 tracks, the only one not penned by her being the one that started it all, the classic "Torn." Starting at the most unlikely source as an actress on the daytime TV soap opera Neighbours (although it had produced singing stars a decade earlier with Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan), Imbruglia had carved out a singing career with a series of pop/rock singles with superb melodies, although never managing to top the exquisiteness of the single "Torn." So after three successful albums, Left of the Middle, White Lilies Island, and the number one Counting Down the Days, her record company, BMG, released this greatest-hits compilation to sum up her career to date and also move into the future with a smattering of new tracks not previously on the three albums. All nine of her singles were included -- which had already been featured on the three studio albums -- as well as "Glorious," the first single released from this collection. No doubt to give an impression that this was a new album as well as a greatest-hits compilation, "Glorious" kicked off the proceedings as the opening track, followed by those nine earlier singles. The track order was a compromise reached between the artist and her record company, with the four new tracks all bringing up the rear. Of these four, "Amelia" was an ethereal, haunting ballad and "Be with You," "Against the Wall," and "Stuck on the Moon" were midtempo ...
| | Jackson Browne Running On Empty CD (1977)
Turn Back music CDs
$5.99 Also available with JACKSON BROWNE (SATURATE BEFORE USING) on 1 cassette.
An audacious concept album about life on the road, this is a mix of in concert performances and informal sessions taped in various hotel rooms (see "Shaky Town," although it's hard to believe that Browne, by then a major star, was actually staying at a Holiday Inn). It's very '70s--the overall aura of cocaine-fueled decadence is almost palpable--but it works far better than you'd expect, and the songs are consistently memorable, even if Browne didn't write them all.
High points include a stunning half hotel/half concert version of Danny O'Keefe's "The Road," still the best song ever written about the life of a travelling musician, and the closing medley of the roadie anthem "The Load-Out" and Maurice Williams and the Zodiac's doo-wop classic "Stay." The hard rocking title tune features typically lyrical yet stinging slide guitar from long time associate David Lindley.

$11.39 This is the debut album from veteran writer/recording artistJack Gray and his Eddies of the Wind. Working from a palette of psychedelic, folk, rock and techno, the Eddies have produced a stellar recording, one which promises to be among the year's most innovative and ambitious release. A must for any record collection, Eddies of the Wind is truly a great accomplishment for a new artist.Eddies of the Wind relies on a variety of influences on this record one which stalks the 60's psychedelic movement, to his hauntingly similar stylings that resemble power folk-rock anthems. Lyrically this is a poignant approach to the winds of change which are destined to shape the world in which we live in."Union Sign" is sung through the eyes of an 1800's corporate tyrant who ...
