| | R-De Love You Down CD (2005)
Spaceball CD music
$7.99 Golden key would like to recognize R*DE with his latest single, Love You Down. Look for him at the 47th annual Grammy award's. R.B.S. magazine lists R*DE as the hottest new artist of 2005. Take a moment to read up on Golden Key's artist of the month R*DE:R-DE was born legally as Yohnni R. Perry, translated Johnny R. Perry, in Athens, Greece. Son of an American military man, R-De and his family travelled frequently and lived in many countries. With a loving Canadian mother our artist was raised in a very multi-cultural surrounding. Having such a diverse childhood we believe created that spark of musical genius only the influence of various artists and musical experiences can create. Having a father with a stake in the musical industry and a devoted mother R-DE started music and dance at the age of three. By the age of five he was being professionally taught by a vocal and numerous musical instrument teachers. This continued until the age of nine when his parents got divorced and his father took residence in California, USA and his mother moved to Minnesota, USA. Our artist then began to commute between parents and places all the time expanding his ability for music, as he played continuously in the two different venues. This expansion process continued as R-DE moved to Michigan to live with his grandmother. At the age of ten R-DE was now the youngest member of his grandmother's church band as a drummer. This was a huge inspiration for our artist which lead to his first performances live as a singer. After two years his father returned from an overseas assignment and took him back to California, USA to live. At this point in his life music was no longer an affordable family expense so he had to support his passion, if it was to continue. R-DE began to use every resource he could think of which lead to his involvement in youth centers, after school programs, and whatever music program was available. Now much older and with obvious serious musical talent he began studies at Central High School; which, is noted for students that have become famous in the music industry. During this time, approximately sixteen, he accepted a position as a singer in a band and got his first taste of the real music industry traveling and performing. Unfortunately, this was short-lived as his mother objected and he began college the next year. R-DE's heart lead him to play in the schools jazz band while completing his associates in film making. By twenty years of age he was playing in different local bands in the area live. Within these years is the time our artist feels he learned the whole process of music which allowed him to develop into the artist we ...

$27.95 It's hard to believe that this compilation launched what was later revered as a legendary series. In fact, with hindsight, this debut volume was the weakest of the group, heavily weighed down by reggaefied covers of pop fluff. The best of this batch belongs to George A. Penny's "Win Your Love," but that's because even an overly percolating reggae rhythm couldn't dent the Sam Cooke classic. Joy Landis delivers up a delightful soul version of "Kansas City," but then blots her copy book with a truly excruciating cover of "Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da." Equally unnecessary are takes on "Angel of the Morning" and "A Place in the Sun." A special award goes to the Uniques' "Watch This Squad," a cover of the Buffalo Springfield's anti-war classic "Watch This Sound." Not only is it an exceedingly poor choice ...

Spaceball CD music
$17.19 As an active musician and recitalist, bassist and composer Mark Sonksen demonstrates an impressive versatility and expansive knowledge of jazz music. While strongly rooted harmonically in the modern jazz idiom, his works incorporate a wide variety of influences from Brazilian to Latin-tinged jazz to European jazz and Argentine Tango music. Over the years Mark has been blessed with the opportunity to play music with many great artists including Bobby Shew, Louie Bellson, Jodie Christian, Diane Shuur, Ira Sullivan, Ed Thigpen and Hugh Fraser, among others. He has also been the recipient of various grants and awards recognizing his talents as a composer, including City of Chicago CAAP Grant recipient, ASCAP/IAJE Honorable Mention of Special Distinction, ASCAPPLUS awards(2006, 2007, 2008) and one of the Jazz Composers in Residence at the Banff Centre for the Arts, Banff Alberta, Canada. (2006, 2007). Two CDs, “Blue Visions: Compositions of 1995/1996\" and the recently released “Alba”, highlight his original compositions and arrangements. Currently he is orchestrating an original suite in three movements for Bandoneon, Trumpet and Jazz Orchestra. His current \"book\" includes 75 original compositions for small, medium and large ensembles. Mark is a member of the Chicago Federation of Musicians Local 10-208.The composition process, the recording sessions of 1995 and 1996, musical influences and their roots....\"I remember the moment very clearly: it was my birthday in the spring of 1995. I had only recently moved to Chicago and began getting involved in the music scene. That particular morning I woke up very early--about 6AM--and sat down right away at the piano to write down the music that had been in my head. It was a very surreal moment; it was as if the music had just showed up in my dreams, already composed. Within an hour I had the basic tune written down and within a day or say, it was finished. At that moment my life as a composer in the jazz idiom had begun. It was as if whatever deity out there said \"here, try this and see what becomes of it\". I\'ve only had that experience happen a 1/2 dozen times since then, in the composition process. Nevertheless, I still will wait for the Muse to ...
