| | Angelo Latona Unveiled CD Angelo Latona Discography of CDs
Trained by some great jazz and classical teachers Angelo LaTona has carefully crafted his art. Two of the mentors that stand out are Ron Thal and Tom Gavornik. The latter brought him over the top with jazz improvisation. It was Tom Gavornik ("Soul Cry", "Perfectly Flawed" among his many albums) that encouraged him, after listening to some of Angelo's originals, to put out "Unveiled" a CD which Gavornik co-produced. The love of the guitar came at the early age of 6 years when his uncle gave him his first acoustic guitar for Christmas. He never put it down. At the age of 10 years, his parents invested in a Harmony electric hollow body with matching amplifier. As a youngster, he was influenced by two older cousins who were music aficionados and who also played in bands. Their influences became his: Johnny Winter, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Kiss and a lot of 60's/70's progressive bands. As the years went by, he began to take guitar lessons more seriously. Mr. LaTona's influences changed as his knowledge of the guitar increased. Some of those influences were: Al DiMeola, Pat Metheny, Steve Lukather, Edward Van Halen, Steve Vai, Allan Holdsworth, Joe Satriani and many more. These artists are still very inspirational to his craft. "Unveiled" was born out Angelo's love for the spirit. It was to be a project that brought out in him the very essence of spirituality and love without sounding like the bubble-gum worship and praise music that you hear today. In no way does he belittle contemporary gospel music but has concluded that it is not at all challenging. His goal? To impact inspirational music enough to show that it is okay to rock and funk in the name of God. In September 2005, Angelo LaTona signed his first record deal with New York City's Mia Mind Music to release "Unveiled". They believe his music has tremendous crossover potential in that it's diverse enough to carry into many styles of music such as jazz, rock, fusion, classical and funk. We believe they're absolutely right!

Unveiled
$12.15 "Doityourselfincrimination" is the solo debut of Mike Theiss (pronounced "tice"). Mike played all of the instruments on "Doityourselfincrimination," composed all of the songs and recorded, produced and mixed the CD by himself. When recording the album, Mike set out to give the recording the same spontaneous, organic, interactive quality that you will get with a live funk band.On "Doityourselfincrimination", modern music technology is married with funky relics of the past to meld together a sound that recalls 70’s funk, while still sounding fresh. In addition to playing alto and tenor saxophone, Mike plays an assortment of analog and digital keyboards including Hohner Clavinet, Wurlitzer Electric Piano and Hammond organ.A big fan of the many great horn sections in the Funk genre (The J.B.’s, Horny Horns, Kool & The Gang, Tower of Power, Earth, Wind and Fire etc.), Mike uses overdubbing to create thick harmonies, much in the same way that singers like Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and D’Angelo layer their vocals.About Mike Theiss- From 2004 to the present Mike has performed with Altered States of Funk in the Seattle metropolitan area. Altered States of Funk was voted the best Soul/R&B band in the Seattle Weekly’s annual music poll in 2005 and has performed at many regional festivals including Bumbershoot, The Bite of Seattle and the Northwest Folklife Festival.- Mike is also featured ...
