Set in a 19th century European village, this stop-motion, animated feature follows the story of Victor (voiced by JOHNNY DEPP), a young man who is whisked away to the underworld and wed to a mysterious Corpse Bride, while his real bride, Victoria, waits bereft in the land of the living. Though life in the Land of the Dead proves to be a lot more colorful than his strict Victorian upbringing, Victor learns that there is nothing in this world, or the next, that can keep him away from his one true love. Director: Tim Burton. Actors: Albert Finney, Emily Watson, Helena Bonham Carter, Johnny Depp, Tracey Ullman. In the same vein as EDWARD SCISSORHANDS and NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, Tim Burton continues to combine wholesome comedy and creepy horror with this tale of a mild-mannered Victorian gentleman, Victor (Johnny Depp), who accidentally marries a mysterious corpse bride (Helena Bonham-Carter) instead of his intended, Victoria (Emily Watson). Victor soon discovers that the Land of the Dead holds more fun than frights and begins to fall in love with his innocent bride. Meanwhile, Victoria has been drawn into a scam of a marriage and may not escape with her life. As time runs out for everyone, can there be a resolution in which everyone gets what he or she deserves?
Building on their past productive relationship (EDWARD SCISSORHANDS, ED WOOD), Tim Burton and Johnny Depp create a colorful riot of a film that revives the increasingly rare method of stop-motion animation. Over the period of 10 years that Burton worked to complete the film, new techniques were created to speed the process, including a new way to change the character models' facial expressions by using gears in their heads. Of particular note is the lilting score by Danny Elfman, another longtime Burton collaborator. Fun for adults and children, CORPSE BRIDE is another welcome walk through Tim Burton's twisted mind. Theatrical Release: September 16, 2005 Tim Burton's Corpse Bride Reviews: 5 stars out of 5 -- "A return to form for Tim Burton....A bravura, tag-along triumph in its own right."
-- Kevin Maher, Uncut "[With] a few moments of graceful, melancholy lyricism rare for any kind of movie, let alone an animated one."
-- Glenn Kenny, Premiere 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "[I]t's warped and wonderfully effervescent....Burton evokes a darkly erotic obsession that recalls Edgar Allan Poe and Hitchcock's VERTIGO."
-- Peter Travers, Rolling Stone "As an achievement in macabre visual wizardry, TIM BURTON'S CORPSE BRIDE has to reckoned some sort of marvel....A sculpted musical dreamscape of kiddie-gothic expressionist design." -- Grade: B
-- Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly "The visuals are dazzling and the characters vividly rendered in caricature fashion. Danny Elfman's score may be his best yet, with songs that are witty and melodic."-- Claudia Puig, USA Today "The new film showcases the subtle effects the technique can manage, with texture and detail, lighting and costuming still beyond anything computers can achieve..."

Tim Burton's Corpse Bride Video Tim Burton's Corpse Bride Movie Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) Good Fun Although short on story and Danny Elfman's songs sound too similar to the ones he penned for Nightmare Before Christmas, Tim Burton's imagination more than makes up for the shortcomings.
This is a fun movie for those cold, wet days out. Submitted by tintin84105 (Woods Cross, UT, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Pretty HOT for a Dead Girl!!!! This movie is really cool and if the afterlife is like in this movie I'd rather be dead and of course I would be skeletal, but anyway this is a GREAT movie one you should you own! Submitted by skullmstr85 (Pahrump, NV.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
An enjoyable film & great to look at I have always been a fan of Tim Burton?s "The Nightmare Before Christmas".
So, it did not surprise me that I enjoyed this film.
Music not as good as Nightmare.
In the 12 years between the 2 films the film looked great. I was really impressed with the look & style of the film. In other words, it had a gorgeous look to it.
The extra on the DVD were good as well. Other film makers can learn from this DVD package. A lot of recent DVD releases have LITTLE TO NO EXTRAS AT ALL. This package has multiple extras. A plus to me in a DVD package.

AWSOME!! I thought that this was a really good movie. Johnny Depp is an incredible actor. Its good to know that he is so versitile and able to do anything. Not to mention that fact that Tim Burton is a God.....Nightmare Before Christmas was a brilliant movie, and i was afraid that this one wouldnt be able to live up to it...but it was a really good movie. Not sure about some of the singing and dancing. I thought that it was a little lame, and i wasnt sure if it was supposed to be as funny as i thought it was. Helena Bonham-Carter did a good job as well. I was glad to see both Johnny Depp and Helena in a movie together again. I thought they were both amazing in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and for them to work together again was really nice. Submitted by Tanya (Lyndeborough, NH, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Tim Burton's Corpse Bride review
$23.45 Co-helmed by WALL-E director Andrew Stanton, FINDING NEMO follows Marlin (voiced by Albert Brooks), an overprotective clown fish father, as he desperately searches the farthest reaches of the sea for his missing son Nemo. Marlin's journey leads him beyond the Great Barrier Reef into deeper and darker waters, where he meets Dory (Ellen DeGeneres), a forgetful yet optimistic blue tang, and a number of not-so-friendly--and often very hungry--aquatic creatures. Meanwhile, little Nemo finds himself in a dentist's fish tank in Syndey, Australia, along with other underwater captives, including Gill (Willem Dafoe), the group's scarred Moorish idol leader. As Nemo works with his new friends on a plan to escape their tank, Marlin and Dory swim closer, but they'll need more than just fins to get into the dentist's office.
This fifth computer-animated outing by Pixar continues the company's remarkable winning streak that began with TOY STORY. Like other Pixar films, FINDING NEMO features a story with ...

$10.19 Director Terry Gilliam, who brought his magical storytelling talents to such films as TIME BANDITS and THE ADVENTURES OF BARON MUNCHAUSEN, sets his sights on the Brothers Grimm, turning their life into a playfully grim fairy tale all its own. Set in early 18th century French-occupied Germany, THE BROTHERS GRIMM stars Matt Damon as Will Grimm and Heath Ledger as Jake Grimm, siblings who travel the countryside as snake-oil salesmen, convincing unsuspecting towns that they are haunted and agreeing to get rid of the demons--for a price. In the meantime, they set their tales down in writing, creating a wealth of oddball, offbeat, ...

Tim Burton's Corpse Bride video
$7.75 After 2002's PANIC ROOM, Jodie Foster took a three year break before deciding to take another leading role in a major motion picture. Three years is a lifetime in Hollywood, but Foster is one of the few stars who can afford to take such a lengthy hiatus from the industry and still command major roles on her return. Robert Schwentke's FLIGHTPLAN is the movie Foster chose as her comeback vehicle; playing the recently widowed Kyle Pratt, she sticks close to PANIC ROOM territory, delving further into fear and isolation as her character boards an airplane to escort her dead husband's body from Berlin to New York.
Kyle brings her young daughter Julia (Marlene Lawston) on the plane with her, and they fly on a craft that was designed by the grieving widow during her tragic tenure in Berlin. But after a short in-flight nap, Kyle awakes to find Julia has disappeared. Her frantic search leads nowhere, and it seems no one on the plane can remember Kyle's daughter boarding the ...

In 2004, a low-budget horror film about a man who put people with moral failings into grisly, murderous situations became a huge hit. In 2005, the sequel scored again, upping the body count and the terror. In 2006, the franchise continued, with plenty of gore as well as an emotional story line that delved into the psychological makeup of the main characters. As SAW II concluded, Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) was dying. But that doesn't mean his penchant for playing games of torture and violence is ending. In SAW III, the murders start occurring again, and Kerry (Dina Meyer) is back on the case, although she thinks this time it might be the work of a copycat. She's only partly right: Amanda ...
