| | Sevendust Best Of (Chapter One 1997-2004) CD Sevendust Discography of CDs
(4 Customer Reviews)
This well-selected 16-song compilation culls material from Sevendust's stint on the TVT label. BEST OF features not only the Atlanta-based heavy-rock band's finest album tracks (including the lumbering "Denial" and the surging "Bender," with the Deftones' Chino Moreno), but a handful of rarities as well (most notably a fierce cover of Marvin Gaye's "Inner City Blues" and a searing rendition of Alice Cooper's "School's Out"). Throughout this set, the group provides blistering guitar work and tight, pummeling rhythms, while frontman Lajon Witherspoon unleashes his dynamic and emotive vocals, reinforcing Sevendust's status as one of the most reliable acts in the nu-metal genre.
This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Keep trying! You'll get it next time. Submitted by orangegreendesolate (Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

Soild Album, but some songs are missing. This is a soild album. I do think that they sould've added Live Again and Crucified instead of Follow and Angel's Son. Not to say that Follow and Angel's Son are bad songs, but Live Again and Crusified are better. They should've added My Ruin and Going Back to Cali. $15.65 Sorcerers of speed metal, protectors of the mighty thrash, knights of the double kick drum--Soulfly are out to take no prisoners with their third album--titled, of course, III. Best Of (Chapter One 1997-2004)
$13.69 DJ Rib (Razed in Black, Transmutator) mixes together whatever goth the Cleopatra label had readily at hand for the double-disc set Gothika. Anyone -- goth fan or not -- would have to give massive props to Rib for being able to smoothly transition this mish-mash of tracks. Unlike his This Is Neo-Goth mix, Gothika dips all the way back to the glory days of goth when the guitar ruled supreme. Red Lorry Yellow Lorry and .45 Grave's tracks weren't recorded with the club in mind, but the DJ does an excellent job of dropping them in a way that not only makes sense, but also serves to ...

| | Howard Devoto Jerky Versions Of The Dream CD (1983) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Best Of (Chapter One 1997-2004)
$9.69 Erstwhile Buzzcock and former front man of post-punk outfits Magazine and Luxuria, Howard Devoto has always been somewhat difficult to peg musically. After disbanding Magazine in the early '80s, Devoto went on to pursue a short-lived solo career, resulting in his lone 1983 effort, JERKY VERSIONS OF THE DREAM. More pop-based than any of his previous efforts, the songs all feature Devoto's distinctive croon--a discomfiting mix of seduction and caustic menace. Like his material with Magazine, Devoto's lyrics are peppered with poetic allusions to politics, both personal and social. The slow building heat of "Cold Imagination" comes across like a post-punk quiet storm. Trapped in the deep freeze of his own mind, his anguished voice intones, "Get me out of my cold imagination." Other tracks, like the jaunty "Waiting for a Train," allude humorously to the everyday occurrence of a train delay resulting ...
