Unknown Contributor Roles: Frank Zappa; Terry Bozzio; Captain Beefheart. Bongo Fury captures Captain Beefheart aka Don Van Vliet with Frank Zappa during their brief reunion for a series of shows in the spring of 1975. This album is a pastiche of both live performances -- taken from two evenings at the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin, TX -- and studio recordings that were almost a year-and-a-half old. This is the last album to feature the highly technical jazz fusion of Mothers of Invention, whose roots can be traced back to 1973 circa Over-Nite Sensation. The live portions are highlighted by the latest addition to the band -- frenetic percussionist extraordinaire Terry "Ted" Bozzio, who would stay with Zappa for a majority of the '70s. Most Zappa enthusiasts either love or hate Bongo Fury. Much of the disparity has to do with the lack of the extended fusion-based instrumentals that had graced their predecessors One Size Fits All and Roxy & Elsewhere as much as it does with the inclusion ...

Best Of Taste Of Chaos
$14.79 Sports loss is definitely music's gain. That is confirmed by the release of The Little Things, the superb full-length debut album from young singer/songwriter Claudia DiNatale. As a teenager growing up in Windsor, Claudia was a star high school athlete, excelling at soccer, track and field, cross-country, volleyball, and basketball. A volleyball scholarship was in the offing, but a seriously torn anterior cruciate ligament shattered those dreams. Happily, music was on hand to capture her youthful energy. "I have always had a passion for music, ever since I started taking piano lessons at age six," explains DiNatale. "Right at the time I hurt my knees, I had been recording a demo. The injury just made my decision to focus upon music easier." Claudia's formidable vocal talent became apparent early, and it led to starring roles in school productions of such musicals as Evita, Oliver, and Fiddler On The Roof. "At 16, I started to take music more seriously," she recalls. "I took classical lessons ...

Best Of Taste Of Chaos
$14.35 2009 collection. The Rivingtons secured their place in musical history when their first 45 reached the top half of the Billboard Hot 100 in the summer of 1962, and the insistently catchy title `Papa Oom Mow Mow' turned every listener into a sing-a-long bass voice. The group followed this with their own answer-disc, `Mama Oom Mow Mow', and went on to capture the dance-craze market with `The Bird Is the Word', a crossover hit in spring 1963, while their two Hot 100 hits were merged into a medley as `Surfin' Bird' by The Trashmen at the end of 1963, ironically out-selling the originals to reach the top 10. The Rivingtons were more than just a novelty group, however, and at the dawn of the Soul era, produced a number of superb deep Soul ballads, of which `I'm Losing My Grip' and `Deep Water' ...
