$10.19 All songs written by Common Sense. Contains samples from "Protect Ya Neck" (as performed by Wu-Tang Clan) and "Power Of Love" (as performed by Alton McClain and Destiny).
The music on RESURRECTION seems deceptively simple--jazzy loops over a strong break beat--but this is only because the true focus on any Common Sense album is the lyrics. Common is an underrated rapper, possessing enormous skills on the mic, able to string together seemingly endless syllables and phrases into a fluent, flowing story line. He often speaks in soundbites, using an old commercial's ad-line or another rapper's hook, but always recreating them to fit into the story he's trying to tell, usually regarding his life and his 'hood--Chicago's Stony Island.
Common Sense has grown up since his 1992 debut, CAN I BORROW A DOLLAR? Instead of wasting time dogging the "Heidi Hoes" around his way, he turns his talent towards more mature themes. While he spends plenty of time discussing monetary matters in songs like "Chapter 13 (Rich Man Vs. Poor Man)" and "Communism," the album's centerpiece is "I Used To Love H.E.R.," a chronicle of Common's long time relationship with the woman he loves--an extended metaphor for hip hop ...

$25.29 John Verity began his music career in the early 1960's, playing guitar in various local bands around his home town of Bradford, Yorkshire, until he was offered a full time gig with a band which was backing Dave Berry, and others...By 1969 John was living and working in the US, with the first ever line-up of the John Verity Band doing prestigious support slots with many of the big names of the day including Jimi Hendrix, Mountain, Canned Heat and Janis Joplin. On his return to England in 1971, John secured a contract to record his first solo album for ABC/Probe records, 'John Verity Band', which was released in the spring of 1972. Whilst on tour promoting the album, JV was spotted by Rod Argent who was looking for new lead vocalist for his band & John eventually joined Argent in 1973.The next few years were spent Either gigging, or in recording studios throughout the world, producing, playing guitar, or doing backup vocals with various acts including Motorhead, Tank, Ringo Starr, Russ Ballard, Colin Blunstone, Brian Connolly, John Parr, BowWowWow and The Searchers amongst many others, until late in 1981 when PRT Records MD Matt Haywood asked JV to record a solo album. "Interrupted Journey", released in 1982, was highly acclaimed in the UK, USA and Europe and successfully relaunched Johns performing career. Mike Rutherford of Genesis wrote three songs for inclusion on the JV Bands' next set of sessions, and both Keith Emerson and Greg Lake used John on their current recording projects. In 1992 John decided to re-locate, away from his native Yorkshire to rural Bedfordshire and closer to friends from the Argent days. Since the move south the JV Band gigs have continued as ever, with different line-ups chosen from a shortlist of fine musicians. It's the year 2004 and the JV Band is still alive and kicking at venues throughout the UK and abroad... Catch them at a venue near you... Want to know more? Visit www.johnverity.comMax Milligan has been a performing guitarist since 1973 when he formed his first rock band GONDOLIN, he gained experience in playing many styles of music with members of the Royal Air Force Southern Band based in Henlow playing various festivals and functions on airbases with The Frontliners ("These guys were serious musicians and great to be around, nothing was too much trouble to explain whether it was basic theory or jazz harmony"). This led him to be chosen as the resident guitarist at The Nite Spot, a 650 seat theatre on the Bedford embankment. Between 1976-78 he backed numerous U.K. and U.S. artists at the club playing in Breeze and The Dave Hammond Set. Some of the highlights were working with Matt Monroe, Diane Solomon and Georgie Fame. He then gained a chance to audition for The New Dakotas backing 60's legend Billy J Kramer. He toured with the band for two years. There were some great players in the band over this time.
