I REALLY like this movie! I thought that charlton heston did a great job playing moses. He was kind, proud, loving and much more in just one person. Yul Brynner did a very good playing the proud Ramses and nephratiti was a great queen, but I was glad Moses didn't marry her because she was to proud and stuck up. His egyptian mother was really cool to see when the hebrews left because she helped many of the people and gave her royal litter up. I liked Ben-hur better, but this is one of my favorite movies!

 Great Movie
Still one of the best epic movies ever made. Great telling of the story of Moses. Although, like most movies based on this topic they don't quite do everything right. For instance, Moses married an Ethopian woman, or a black woman, and the woman in the movie is not black. They always add a lot of stuff that we are not told about in the Bible, but they have to put filler material to make it more interesting. Anyway, very good movie and it is one of Charlton Heston's greatest movies.

 Remains A Classic
This is a first in many aspects... Though today's technology did not exist then, it most certainly made this story a first to try such enormous camera tricks. Also the story would not have been the same without them. Yul Brynner and Charleston Heston were at their best...It was hard to root for one over the other character. Makes the bible come alive and teaches a bit more than the written word.

 THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD
To begin with this epic was shot in Vistavision - not Cinemascope. Not every studio used Fox's "new" technique & Paramount was one. Forget the religious aspect - this was deMille's "McGuffin" - this is his GWTW & a splendid hunk of entertainment made to be seen on a giant screen if you want to count the extras. DeMille went to great lengths to endorse & promote the authenticity of the events and,of course the great set piece, Moses parting the Red Sea (with some help from the special effects teams) and a grand rousing score from my favourite romantic composer, Victor Young. Yul Brynner is the Pharoah just as he was King of Siam. Edward G Robinson in a comeback was grandly treacherous & Anne Baxter was also treacherous and duplicitious as any politician in her efforts to defeat Moses and his God. At nearly 4 hours it must still be seen at one sitting. What Hollywood's veteran of religious spectacle,sin & punishment did for the crusades and the circus he now did for the Bible's popular tales. Watch for those 7 plagues with the weeping & gnashing of teeth.

 Short on WideScreen
The aspect of The Ten Commandments in This DVD editions is 1:69 to 1. The Movie was shot in Cimemascope at 2.40 to 1. It is sad that we are given a cut up version of this Great Movie.
